I'm only 21, but music has been a huge thing for me as long as I can remember. My dad was a gospel singer and he was really hoping I would be too. Once I was old enough to start singing, my parents signed me up for choir at church. At the time, I was like 6, so I really didn't have a say. I went along with it until I was 12 and I begged them not to make me go anymore. Of course they still made me go lol but I thought I should do something else with the singing gift.
So when I was 8, my best friend Sal had me listen to some rock CD's. I instantly fell in love with it. It was so different from what I was used to (gospel, R&B, hip hop) so I wanted to hear more. But not just that, I wanted to know what made it sound so great. So when I started middle school, I signed up for band class and started with the flute. From there, I got into classical, jazz, and symphonies. At some point, I got really obsessed. Music became another language and I just needed to know everything.
High school comes along and not only did I sign up for band, but I also joined the marching band. Along with that, there was Chamber Ensemble and piano. Piano was the one thing I wanted to do the most, I have no idea why it took me so long to actually go for it lol maybe lack of motivation but anyway. Starting piano kind of branched off into alternative and pop and then things got crazy. After attending Warped tour and Extreme Thing numerous times, I wanted to be a bit more out of the rock scene but not completely. So I moved on to instrumental and and a little bit of Ska. Ska and Country are probably my least favorite genres, but I still listen from time to time.
I rode the instrumental roller coaster for awhile, it was truly a great experience. Now, I'm going on to what I was trying to put off lol. EDM in my opinion is kind of like the new techno. I used to love techno, omg what have they done with the genre!? Dubstep? Really!? Ugh, so disappointing. Of course, there are some good songs and groups but, damn I really feel like original techno is gone. Or maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Electronica, man. I don't even know. But for now, my world is a bit more magical with all the beautiful music floating around in my head all the time. Its really nice actually lol made me smile for a second xD Music really is everything.

P.S
I've decided to add a new addition to my journals. Not every entry will have one, but most will give a song suggestion. I feel like it gives an even more personal touch to my journal. So the song of the day is Simon Vandetta - Strawberry Girls
