this weekend has been pretty nice,
spent it surrounded by family.

i think as time goes on,
i just grow closer and closer to my family,
maybe i'm starting to realize i really don't have forever with them?

i mean, pretty soon I'll be moving to San Fran,
and then I'll never see 'em. Except Christmas.

My dad and his two older brothers were talking about Thanksgiving and such,
And it kind of just killed me a little when they were like,
"If mom is still around, we'll definitely be here Donny."

I mean, I guess they're just looking at it from a logical stand point,
She'll be turning 85 this year,
But if she's held on this long, then I'm sure she's got the will power to keep going.

It's weird,
After my grand-daddy died, I assumed my Grammy would die shortly after.
Because I had learned about turtle doves, and when their beloved dies they die within two years,
The same case has been shown in people,
But Grammy didn't die, so I guess after a while I just figured she never could die?

I guess I'm just too naive for these things,
But I have this feeling in my stomach that she's just not gonna die.

I mean, yeah she takes oxygen like four times a day,
and she has an oxygen mask. and she can barely walk,
And she sleeps all the time cause it's too much to stay awake,

But when you just sit down and talk to her,
Even though her voice is sorta hard to understand now,
It's just really heart warming.

It's too cute the way she talks about the past,
And my dad's childhood.

She just kept going on and on about donuts this weekend,
And how they used to be a quarter a dozen.
And they couldn't ever afford two donuts per person in the family, cuz they weren't rich enough,
but nobody cared cuz it was just nice to have a donut and all sit around with one another and enjoy their crazy big household.

I can't even imagine growing up in that environment,
But something tells me it's nothing short of amazing when it's at its highs. :p
