Happy Chinese New Year !
Rabbits are often used as a symbol of fertility and birth and therefor have associations with spring. Because they are often prey they are also a symbol of innocence. In folklore they are often seen as tricksters using their cunning to outwit their enemies. In Aztec Mythology a pantheon of 400 rabbit gods represented parties, fertility, and drunkenness. In China rabbits accompany Chang'e on the moon and are part of the twelve celestial animals in the zodiac. In Japan rabbits also live on the moon. They make mochi. In Jewish folklore rabbits are associated with cowardliness.
