Easter Lily
The lily is said to be a symbol of purity, virtue, innocence, hope, and life. Sometimes they are also called 'the white robed apostles of hope". One story says they are found in the Garden of Gethsemane because they sprung up from Jesus' sweat during his time of sorrow and distress before his finial hours. Other stories says they sprung up from his sweat from carrying the cross or at the foot of the cross where his sweat fell from his agony. The lily is also connected to the Virgin Mary. One legends says that when her tomb was visited three days after her burial all that was found inside was the white lily. Another legend with biblical significance connects the lily to Eve. It is said that the flower sprung up from the tears of remorse and repentance she shed after being cast out of paradise.
