I miss you tonight.
This is the first night I've been alone since I've gotten to Greensboro.
And I realize maybe its for the best.

But I miss you really badly, Grammy.
The calls stopped while we were here,
I wonder if that's because people felt my parents would be of little use four hours away, or if it was more that the arguing has finally come to a close.

I'm more like wishing for the latter, everyone could use a break from the drama that seems to stick itself to such a huge family.

I wonder if I'll fit in here, I'm not quite the social butterfly you've always been.
I could really use you right now.
I wonder what it's like where you are now,
Are you happy to be home, where your heart is, with your soul at rest?

Somehow I find myself longing for the day where my own soul is at ease,
But I suppose I have an entire lifetime before that can happen, huh?
I just hate the rattling going on in my head when I'm all alone.
Were you plagued by this as well?

I never noticed how much I got from you,
But I feel as though even my creativity was from you, I never knew you were a poet, wrote music, or any of that.
I wish someone with some skill would play the notes you strung together so effortlessly.

I love you, Grammy.
I wish you were still here,
but I know you are in my heart.

Will you promise to watch me from the edge of the street as I run off to class?
I guess that's a silly request, its not really anything you had to do when you were still walking the earth,
but I would just like it if you and Grand-daddy would smile as I start the next chapter of my life.

I can't wait until I get that photo of you guys in its new frame.
I already know the perfect place for it.

I guess I should get some sleep,
breakfast to be made and eaten in the morning.

I wonder what awaits.
