Leap Day!
In places like Ireland and Europe today is the day that women traditional can propose to men. It supposedly started when St. Bridget asked St. Patrick to allow wmen to have a more active role in chossing a husband. It was thought to balence out male and female roles like how the day balances out the extra hours. If the man refused he was suppose to pay a penality. In europe this was twelve gloves so the lady could hide the fact she wasn't wearing a engagement ring. In Scotland it was unlucky to be born on this day. In Greece it was unlucky to marry in a leap year especially on leap day.
