My Journal of Fantasy
This is a collection of information I have gathered on creatures and things in legends and lore.
Mugwort
In the middle ages mugwort was used as a protective magical herb. It was used to repel insects, especially moths. It was also used to prevent fatigue. Roman soldiers would put it in their sandals to keep their feet from getting tired. it was also used to protect travelers from evil spirits and wild animals. It was also believed during the middle ages to be worn by John the Baptist as a girdle in the wilderness. Mugwort is used in both Chinese and Japanese traditional medicines. In Japan there is also a ancient custom of hanging it with iris leaves outside of homes. It is said the smell is disliked by evil spirits and therefor keeps them away. In Germany it is used to season goose especially Christmas goose.
