Since ancient times white horses have been portrayed possessing exceptional qualities such as having wings like Pegasus or a horn like a unicorn. Some white horses prophesy or warn of danger. Lots of times they bear heroes and gods in ceremonial roles or in triumph over evil. In some cultures they were held as sacred animals and in others they were sacrificed to the gods. In several traditions they carry saints or saviors in the end times. Sometimes they are associated with the sun or sun chariot.
