With all these ghost walking around that have random fits of hating the living I though it would be good to have a list of some ways to protect ourselves. Of course none of these may actually work.
If you walk around a ghost nine times it will disappear. You may also have to crow like a rooster to get this to work. It is suppose to make them think that daylight is coming. If you slam a door you may hurt a ghost who will haunt you for the rest of your life. Ghost like to haunt areas where owls build there nest and will stay as long as the owl stays. This is because the cry of the owl symbolizes death. In the sixteenth century people got rid of unwanted spirits through fasting, praying, and drinking a wine and holy water mixer. Carrying religious charms and relics also helped.Burning frankincense and myrrh helps give them peace. In Denmark there is a superstition that says who can pin down a spirit with a wooden post. If you remove the post the spirit is set free. Lodestone is a protective talisman against spirits. Running water represents life so a spirit cannot follow you if you cross running water. Light drives away spirits. Bind a sprig of rosemary into a shell with red string. This is another talisman against ghost. If a candle flame flickers and then turns blue a spirit is in the room.
