It's time for this months birthstone. Today we will look at garnets.

It is said in biblical legend that Noah hung this stone on the ark to light his way through the storms. For travelers it is a protective gem. Medieval warriors thought garnets protected against wounds ans helped to bring about victory. Some warriors also thought that bullets made from garnets would cause more damage. In Greece children carried talismans of garnet to protect against drowning. Garnets in ancient times were also used to help stop blood flow.
