The Ultimate Choice


Elena hadn't talked to Kenpachi in a week. He hated the fact she wouldn't look at him. They still slept in the same bed but she never says anything and she never looks at him directly in the eyes.

It was nighttime,and he just sent Yachiru to bed. That night, he was going to force Elena to talk to him. He had the ultimate choice for her to make. One that was going to change both of their lives.

She was sitting in the blacony when he found her. She was looking at the night sky. She hadn't been able to sleep in a while. He could tell because her eyes started to dull. He knew she was strong but looking at her like this, she looked weak. He sat next to her and sighed.
"Your thinking about Chi,huh?"
She shook her head. "No....."Her voice was low. But he was happy he could get something out of her."And yes...."
"Really?So you mind giving me some of your thoughts?"
She was silent for a while. "Kenny...." Her voice cut throught the silence. "Can you hold me while i talk?"
Kenpachi smiled and pulled her into his lap. He gaze her a little squeez and smelled her floral scent. "So, what are you thinking about?"
"I'm thinking about how I'm going to get her back. and can I get her back. I need to get her back now. I made a promise to her mother. If I don't then....I will never be able to face one of my best friends."
Kenpachi closed his eyes and sighed."Why must you carry this responsibility?"
"Because. I love all my friends. You know for a fact I didn't have anyone before all of this. Before I died? So I cherish all the ones I have now. To me, my friends are my mothers and my fathers."

"Does that include me?"Kenpachi rubbed his head against he neck. Elena reached up and ran her fingers through his jet black hair. She loved it when it was down.
"Don't be silly. To me, we are allready married." she blushed.
Kenpachi's face went red for a second but it flashed back to its normal color. "So, other than that, whats on your mind. Better yet, why have you been avoiding me?"

Elena closed her eyes and turned around to cuddle up to him. "Everytime I saw you....I saw your face bloody and beaten. From the day you fought Ichigo. I thought I lost you....."A tear went down her face as she began to shake.
"Elena....I will die someday. And i will die by someone's blade. When that day comes, I want you to be prepared for the worst. I hate to say it but it wont be the last time you'll ever see me in that state. Do you understand?"
she nodded.
"Remember when I asked you to walk through the darkness with me?" He brought her face up to his.
"Yeah..." she whispered as he wiped away one of her tears with his thumb.
"That is what i meant. I just pray youll be able to endure it again and again." He brought her face to his and gave her a deep kiss.

It had been so long since he felt her soft lips against his rigid and rough lips. Elena felt the same way. She held his head and took into the deep embrace. He inhaled all he could of her as if it was the first and last time he would ever be able to hold onto her. He fell back with her in his arms and continued their kiss.
Her tounge traced his bottom lip causing him to growl in enjoyment.

He pulled her away then. Elena stared at him in confusion. "Whats the matter?"
He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin ontop of her head. "There is something I need you to do. I need you to make a choice."
"Whats wrong? What is it?"
"I'm giving you a choice to live a normal life in the Soul Society. To leave Division 11 and to go back to the Shiba Clan."
Her eyes widened. Her heart felt like it was about to crumble away into a million little peices."W-What's the other choice?" her voice started to shake. What's going on? Does he not love me? Why is he trying to get rid of me?
"The other choice....."he reached into his shirt and pulled out a small velvet box.He opened it and showed the purple ring to her. "Is that you marry me and stay in the darkness with me."

Elena jumped up and stared at the ring. "Kenny....are....you asking me to...."
"Don't be a dumbass, I'm asking you to marry me. Marry me or leave me and never come back. Thats your choice."
Elena smiled and a tear went down her face. "Your such and idiot. You had me from the moment I joined this Division." She took the box from his hand and took the ring out and placed it on her ring finger. "Its pretty." she blushed.

Kenpachi stared at her then a huge smile appeared onto his face. "So, are you going to become, Elena Shiba Zaraki, or are you going back to the Shiba clan for good, You never gave me the answer."
She hit him and stood. She gave a salute and smirked. "I, Elena Shikru would be honered to become Elena Shiba Zaraki!" she then put her finger to her lips and pouted. "I love your name to peices but it doesn't role with my name."
Kenpachi grabbed her hand and pulled her to the ground next to him. "As long as you wear that ring. You can have any name you want. Just remember, its your new leash."
Elena grinned. "Well, you better have a tight grip, Captain."

She leaned over and licked over the scar on his face. Kenpachi stared like an idiot at her but then bursted with laughter.Elena joined in.
The laughter went on for a while then they finally calmed down.
"I missed you Elena. Welcome back."He pulled Elena into his arms as he stood and closed the balcony door with his foot. He started to the mattres on the floor.
Elena smiled. "I missed you to, Kenpachi, It feels good to be back."

He laid her onto the bed and climbed over her.
"Don't wear me out to much, I have buisness I have to take care of tomorrow." she smiled.
"I might not be able to help that." He leaned over to kiss her collar bone which caused her to let out a sigh.
"Damn..."She grinned letting herself go into him.
