Shense and Ben trudged on. They had finally made it to New York. The sky was red, the buildings were all crumbling. A great castle sat a few miles ahead of them.
"Theres no place like.... New York." Shense muttered under his breath. "The streets will make you feel brand new. There's nothing you can't do, in New York." "Well there's nothing left of it now. To the castle then?" Ben asked. Shense stood there motionless, his eyes glazed. "Shense! Let's go. There's no point moping. Let's just go."
Shense didn't respond. His lips moved as if singing to some song. "It's so beautiful!" A huge grin appeared on his face, but his eyes were still glazed. "Cant you hear it?! Can't you feel it?! New York New York!" Shense ran around and grabbed Ben by the shoulders, shaking him. "We've got to find that music! Come'on!" Shense darted off, leaving Ben standing there shocked.
Ben hurried after Shense. An odd hum lingered around the back of his ears. The Hum grew louder and louder. He began to slow. His vision changed and everything became a big blur. He closed his eyes and when he opened them the city had changed. New York wasn't a city of rubble, it was a city of wonder! Everything had changed, now there were people and cars everywhere. It looked as if he was back in the 20's. The sweet music lead him to a bar where e found himself sitting next to Shense.
Upon a small stage was a beautiful woman wearing a silk gown. She was singing a song, but that didn't matter. She was so beautiful. Her song ended and Shense and Ben jumped up and applauded as loud as they could. Roses flung themselves upon the stage at the womans feet.
She smiled and looked at the only two patrons of the bar. She spoke into her mic. "Thank you. You're really too kind. Just like a rose that lures honey bees to her, I have brought you loves here to me. I'm terribly sorry to say it, but now I have to kill you both. You will make excellent fertilizer though." A smile crept onto her face as she revealed herself. The Black Rose.
