So I headed east. I don't know why, but I had this yearning to go to the castle. My, castle. It sounded so odd but felt so real. The US was changing, some parts just change faster than others. There were still major cities. Still thousands of people running ad screaming as they saw me. They ran when they saw their world changing.
I was forced to stay off the main highways. There were still people out there, and a lot of them had guns. Even though bullets wouldn't hurt me, I didn't feel like wasting my time.
Yes I was scared. Anyone that lived a normal life would be. Last week I was normal. Today I was changed.
I ran into trouble in Georgia. I was walking through the woods, the ground freezing beneath my feet. It was dark, and seeing as everything from our journals was coming alive, I didn't want to be exposed to the open. I found an old abondoned theatre. The windows were boarded up, smashed glass littered the ground.
Inside there were rows of chairs, all facing the stage, still waiting for a performance. I sat in a chair close to the stage and slowly fell asleep.
Sad violin music woke me up. It played softly in the back. There was a spotlight shining on center stage. The light cane from nowhere, but it was there. The handle to a marionette puppet floated high above the stage. The strings were tight, as if they were holding up an invisible force. There was nothing on stage but the strings were moving as if the invisible puppet was dancing. Several times the movements would stop and applause would errupt from the empty audience.
It was and odd dream, I thought. Then, an old memory sounded in my head. The memory was Glacies', not mine. "Come to the stage oh noble king. The audience wishes to applaud you.". The call was so welcoming, so inviting, so evil. I had no control over my limbs. Unwillingly, I climbed upon the stage. The strings lowered themselves and attached themselves to me.
The voice rang out "Ladies and gentlemen! Please welcome to the stage King Glacies!". Applause came from the empty audience. "Now please welcome the ghost king Alsado!". The spotlight went out and a white vapor appeared before me. Alsado, Glacies advisor appeared before me. He had been advisor until he betrayed Glacies. He had died, but his ghost still lingered, and now he was here for revenge.
