I saw Rent on Tuesday, because it was the cheap movie ticket night, and a friend paid for me. On Wednesday, I discovered that if I don't come up with $400 by Saturday, I'll be evicted.
Irony?
In September, a drunk gentleman shoved a dumpster into my car, causing I'm not kidding you over $1300 worth of damage. He had until Dec. 5 to come up with the compensatory funds, or he'd be charged with a felony.
He hasn't.
There's a chance, though, that I'll still be cut a check for that money tomorrow from the State's Attourney, but I'm scheduled to work from noon to six, by which time the State's Attourney's office will be closed.
I've managed to scrape together about $150. Two weeks ago, one of my cats nearly died, and his repair cost me $250. I nearly put him down rather than pay to repair him, and now, I'm a great grand $250 from eviction.
It's times like this that make me think of a song by Chris Ledoux. I miss him. He was cool. But he sang once about the working man's dollar. How many people believe that money is the root of all evil.
I don't think money is evil.
I think cats are.
