Prologue!
Katie sighed out as she looked up at the beauty of the vast night sky. The stars were twinkling as if to welcome her into their confusing and lovely universe. She reached up for the stars slowly with her pale arms then pretended that she was grabbing them from the sky and bringing them down to herself. As her great imagination kicked in, she saw stars in her hands then she held them close to her chest, embracing the warm feeling that she got from them and hoping for more then just this feeling. She opened her crystal blue eyes quickly as she felt a tap on her shoulder then she turned and saw that her brother was standing beside her on the lush and soft green grass of the cliff that was somewhere around three miles away from her house. Her brother smiled then patted the spot beside her where he had often sat before then he nodded and took his spot beside her, hugging her and chuckling a little bit "Mom and dad still don't know about this cliff, they think that you're safe and sound in your room." he said jokingly before he ruffled her raven blue hair with his pale hands.
Katie giggled a little bit then pushed his hand away from her hair playfully then nodded "I know, that's what I want." she said quietly before she looked over the village that was below them. She longed so much to be one of the village children, to converse with other people her age and to make friends, but she would never be able to do such a thing. She had a wealthy family, so she was home schooled and her parents never let her go out of the house unless she had an escourt. She sighed out then hugged her brother and smiled warmly "Thank you so much Kevin for keeping my secret. I owe you big time." she said before she looked down at the village once more. Kevin chuckled warmly then he nodded "No problem Katie, but you don't owe me anything." he said before he looked away from her and down at the grass. With his legs dangling over the edge, he couldn't help but to feel as if he were flying, flying away from his home and going other places, amazing and wondrous places. He kicked his feet back and forth then he jumped a little bit as he felt a big and clammy hand upon his shoulder. He looked back and saw a mysterious man standing behind he and his sister, almost directly in the middle of them.
He stood up quickly then stroked the dirt off of his black pants before he glared at the new stranger with his pitch black eyes angrily, threataningly. He sighed out then observed the stranger as he was taught to do. The man was about six foot one and he had pitch black hair that was chin length. It looked slicked back as if he were evil and his eyes were of the darkest color anybody had ever seen, even he. The man had on a baggy black shirt and black jeans and he had on a trench coat, black which was no surprise for the color. Shaking his head, Kevin continued to glare at the tall man with pure hatred then he stretched his arms out to protect his sister "What business do you have here stranger?" he asked in a calm yet angry tone. The man cleared his throat then took a deep breath and let it out as if to show he was nervous "Well, you see, I'm going to have to fight you sir. I have no say in the matter, I'm bieng controlled. I wasn't supposed to say this to you, but since I did, we might as well get started." he said in a calm yet shaky voice before he took off his trench coat to reveal his muscles and torn up shirt.
He got into a fighting stance then nodded angrily and waited for Kevin to do the same, but Kevin refused to, continuing to protect his sister "Sir, why must we do this. Who sent you and why can't we work this out in a civilised manner?" he asked in a now concerned yet still angry voice. Katie looked at her brother with wide eyes, tears now forming. What was going on and why did her brother have to fight some random stranger that he hadn't ever met in his entire life? Who was holding such a grudge against her family? There was much that Katie was yet to know, but she thought that eventually she would learn them.
The man blew a small piece of his hair out of his pale face then signaled for Kevin to begin the fight with his hands "Come on, attack me, punch me, kick me, do something to prove that you're worthy enough for us to go up against. You represent your whole family, remember?" he said in a joking tone of voice. Kevin snarled silently and in a low tone then he nodded "Yes, I remember. Why did you have to come here though, HERE of all places??!!?" he asked angrily before he pushed Katie away and led her patiently away from the cliff "Go home." he sounded very angry and demanding, this surely meant that it was worse then she had thought that it was before. Katie nodded then ran in the direction of her home, pretending that she was going to leave but never did. She found a boulder not to far from where her brother was then she hid behind it and watched, hoping to learn something of interest to her.
Kevin got into a fighting stance, putting his hands into fists and bending his knees slightly, his face scrunching up out of anger. He snarled angrily now and he smirked evilly, his white teeth glinting from the light of the full sized moon "So, you thought that you could simply fight me without an invitation, I don't think so!" he said angrily before the man sighed out. The man bowed then stood up straight "Let me introduce myself, I am Thompson and I will be the slave fighting you today. He has sent me here, and he said not to take any prisoners except for one, your 'precious' sister Katie, no, let's begin." he said in an angry tone. Kevin popped his knuckles angrily then he nodded "Alright, it's your funeral!!" he said angrily before he began to charge at Thompson.
Thompson chuckled a little bit then stood still and at the last moment, he punched Kevin in the head, causing him to bleed. Kevin screamed then punched Thompson on the cheek and left a big red mark before he began to punch him in the stomach several times. Thompson doubled over from the pain then he smirked and punched Kevin in the lower stomach area close to his privates which caused Kevin to fall to the ground. Thompson laughed and quickly pulled a sword out of its sheath and put the edge of it to Kevin's throat "Are you prepared to die?" he asked jokingly before he began to slit his throat with his sword.
Katie's eyes grew wider upon her seeing this then she shook her head and silently began to back away from the rock, staying close to the edges of it so as not to be found. As soon as she was out of places to hide behind the boulder, she took off her flip-flop bamboo sandles then held them in her hands and silently ran away on the grass and dirt, not caring that her feet were getting dirty. Thompson thought that he heard something then he shook his head and picked up Kevin's limp and lifeless body, flinging it over his shoulder and laughing before he began to walk towards the town silently.
