this is not the time to plant up here in PA. if the weather is right, end of May is when you plant your plants. i do realize that there are certain plants that are up and are for this time of year. there are early pansies (which stupid weather person, yes they DO come in other colors than purple! idiot was probably think of violets) and we are hoping the chives are up.
i am so bad with plants. i do not have the patience and our back yard makes me sad. i hate having to go into the back yard. i hate all the bugs since the bats are gone and there is no bug control. i hate the sun which gives me headaches and turns me into an angry red lobster in fifteen minutes. once i spent three hours painting three pansies (yellow) in college. then went i went back two days later they were dead. no one else's flowers that they were painting died. i wondered if just my gaze had withered the poor things.
last night the heat was shut off and i was able to crack my window open
ahhhhhhhhhhh fresh air!
there is a backyard that runs into the side of the house right outside my window. city yards, very small
anyway these people have driven me mad for years. sadly, i do not think they are the worst people who have lived there
anyway
i was in my room enjoying the air and i hear watering. so i look out my window and they are water their "garden" which currently did not have any plants. i was so confused, so so confused. were they watering seeds or just the ground? now all summer long they will water twice a day. this is a lot of water because they water the entire perimeter of the yard. we never water our plants. we will collect rain water when it rains, which is seriously annoying because you have to watch the dam buckets so no one steals them. i wish for a rain barrel. plus we collect the water you run when you are trying to warm it up for the shower. we are fine with this and we have not been in drought weather. also our ground is horrible. since there is a lack of trees and concrete everywhere and being on a hill the ground get mildew because of run off and shade from buildings.
the neighbours below my window, water their plants, twice a day for at least ten minutes. a storm was coming in last summer and i was going around closing the windows. the woman told her kids that the storm was coming and to go water the plants....which they did....and 20 minutes later it rained. she wonders why her plants die and get mouldy and rotten
so it has started....the watering....this is going to drive me crazy
you would think the sound of water running is relaxing and rain is. the sound of their hose not so much. the whole sensitive to sounds lights....and just about every other sense. like the possible new allergy to incense....
i feel bad for her plants. plus her rose bush is horrid. she never trims it so you have to duck under it to get to the back yard. it is an ugly yellow and smells awful!
when i moved here, forever ago, the man who lived there was very nice. he had turtles that roamed around the yard. they were so neat. i would look out my window and the one would look up. he was down to one by then. the neighbourhood kids were horrible and cracked the shell of one and it died.
well he was good with plants. he had a gorgeous pink rose bush. the scent was beautiful. i love roses and i loved that rose bush. so in the summer the scent of roses and mint would waft up through my window and was so nice and relaxing. there were a lot of mint plants also. i would just lay there watching the bats swooping, smelling that amazing scent and actually be relaxed.
eventually he moved
so a few tenants later they ripped out the rose bush and carelessly tossed it in to our back yard. it felt like insult to injury. the beautiful rose bush was a mangled mass of trunk, branches, roots and thorns that was now our mess to deal with. the bush had been big enough that we had to hack it to bits to put out for the garbage. i really miss that rose bush
i believe in water conservation. she is not doing anyone any favours with making her kids water twice a day
she would do better with a water garden
