Prologue “Rue!” “Rue get out here!” Came a scream that was coming from a
young woman. She was a tall woman with beautiful pale skin and lovely
sky blue eyes and long silver blonde hair. Her face was contorted into a
mixture of fear and torment. She was wearing a short gray summer
dress wrapped around her slim waist by dark blue ribbons. Around her
neck was a small pearl necklace, and at the center of the necklace
hung a wooden cross. Her beautiful eyes were fixed on the small girl in
the entrance of the door. The small girl had cropped red hair the color
of running blood. Her small eyes were bright blue wide with fear, and
her skin had the same paleness as fallen snow. She was wearing a
black summer dress. Around her neck was a black cross dangling from a
black laced chocker. The box the girl was holding dropped to the floor
falling open to reveal red pointe shoes. The frighten girl looked at the
woman as a tall black shadow grabbed her mother in an iron
grip. “Mama!” Rue screamed. “Well, well looky here.” said the shadow,
speaking in a man voice, he was tall, olive skinned, long brown hair
pulled into a long ponytail. His eyes were bright scarlet. The man was
wearing all black. Clothes, too warm for the summer heat
outside. “Please don’t hurt my baby, please!?” Rue’s mother screamed
trying to get the man off her. “Oh, I’m not going to hurt her, my dear.”
The man told her still looking at Rue his red eyes fixing on Rue’s bright
emerald ones an evil smirk allowing itself across his handsome face. “I’m
going to make her suffer.” His evil smile grew wider. “By making her
watch me kill you.” He lifted a gloved hand up and from the shadows
black whips shot out and grabbed Rue’s arm’s and legs in a tight
inescapable grip. “Rue!” The woman screamed, fighting the mans grip.
But he was too strong. The man kept looking at Rue as she struggled
with the whips. “Watch carefully now young Vampyre.” he said
grabbing Rue’s mother’s long elegant neck. Keeping her in place, as he
lowered his lips to her neck and sank his fangs into her fair skin.
Rue looked at her mother, dyeing, there right in front of her eyes. The
man moved his head away and let the drained body of Rue’s mother fall
to ground, landing with a lifeless thud.
