Being a huge fan of the series, I was extremely excited to see that a remade version of the original MGS would be made. I've actually never finished the original MGS as I was first introduced to the series in Sons of Liberty. I have played the original, mind you. I rented it and got more than half way through, but I never got around to beating it. Back to the topic at hand, Twin Snakes is a revamped version of the original MGS that we all know and love. It has most of Sons of Liberty's features introduced on the PS2: First-Person aiming, hanging from rails, hiding in lockers, hiding bodies, all of that. The game plays very smoothly, aiming is a breeze, sometimes too much of a breeze. This is where the game's flaws appear. The game isn't as challenging as the original game. Ocolot, who took me a few tries in the original, I killed in less than five minutes. This is the only flaw, though. If you're discovered, you can take out a whole unit without breaking a sweat, which isn't what this kind of game was meant to be like. Aside from the first and last boss fights being incredibly easy, the rest of the game is great. The graphics are smooth and the cutscenes, oh the cutscenes....These are the best action sequences seen in a game. That's something to be expected from one of the best action directors in Japan, though. Also, be prepared to watch a lot of these cutscenes. MGS has been known to let cutscenes run a little longer than normal, some taking 30-45 minutes. That doesn't really matter, though because of the story. This is another trademark for the MGS series, the amazing stories, and this one is no different. It tells a tale of Solid Snake, the son of legendary soldier Big Boss. Terrorists have taken control of a nuclear weapons disposal building on Shadow Moses Island, a island off of the Alaskan archipellago (sp). They demand the remains of Big Boss or they will launch a nuclear strike. As Snake you must figure out if they really do have the power to launch a nuclear strike and destroy the weapon, Metal Gear. A joy to play and watch, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is a must-have for any newbie to the series %90
