This time we live in....heh...its something alright. For starters there aren't many people left in America who know what the ******** they're talking about. We shoot down every aspect of intelligence thinking that we are the world's shining light of democracy. Wake the ******** up people! We are a Republic! Furthermore we are no republic we are in turn a plutocracy. Yeah that's a better word....a ******** system ran by the dirt poor getting trashed, beaten, and robbed by corporate junkies who think that they're doing the world a favor by giving us mass access to food and other goods. You know that i think? This so called Republic has a smart man in the presidency! he's just got no say in his politics in congress because congress is a bunch of corporate sponsed old assholes who just have their heads too far up there a** to know how to do any good. Oh and this other thing that they do now....this whole 'Lets be advertise whores and ruin peoples minds with retarded commercials that are completely pointless!" Ugh it's uterly agrivating! But you know where i think this whole world is going? To hell in a hand basket. No one sees that we are killing the planet except for the people that stop look and listen. Our consumption rates are putting us on a crash course with death itself and you know i dont think anyone cares....its....its just a doomed planet if this keeps up....
My problem with everything is that America claims to be this wonderous entity in teh world that apparently has always been right, will be right, and will forever be an empire in the world. I think Eddie Izzard said it best when he said "You are the new roman empire! No one else is going~! You put your hands over your hearts and the romans are the only ones who did that so be very careful! Since you are the new roman empire, you have vomitariums and orgies to look forward too....let the president lead the way!" That was back in the nineties after that whole clinton scandal. I'm also pretty much greek at heart because i support Plato's theories on government and i'm much like him in alot of ways: my main one being that i am enraged at democracy much as he was. He was the first to critique democracy and i really enjoy reading on him. Another man whom just passed this year and is a major blow to the intellectual world is Tony Judt who wrote the book Ill fares the land which is hands down my favorite political work of literature aside from Guns, Germs, and Steel. Guns, Germs, and Steel puts into context the relation between the growth of agriculture and the destruction of socities after we switch from hunters and gathers. I agree with him in that agriculture is a double edged sword and that is cannot go on forever. Below this little second entry of mine, i posted two quotes from my book by Tony Judt and i think that they're relevant to how i'm feeling in this moment. I'm not so much enraged as my first entry seeing how that day i was particularly mad at the government because i've been staying silent about such things. If i do end up making a second entry, it'll most likely be on the Occupy Movement and my feelings about it.
Ill fares the land, to hastening ills a prey,
Where wealth accumulates, and men decay (The deserted village, 1770)
"I cannot help fearing that men may reach a point where they look on every new theory as a danger, every innovation as a toilsome trouble, every social advance the first step toward revolution, and that they may absolutely refuse to move at all. (Alexis De Tocqueville)
