1.) Avoid using too much "txt tlk", chat speek, leet, etc. People will respect you more if you take the time to speak literately, or at least make the attempt. Also, on that note, when you reply to someone in the Forums please make sure it is relevant to the topic and not just a spam message intended to do nothing but get you a little gold. Lastly, please avoid overusing emoticons in your replies. It looks ugly and will just clutter up your response.
2.) Please, for the love of all things holy, do not go around and ask people to cyber with you. Not only is it a direct violation of Gaia's Terms of Service, it will also label you as someone to either make fun of, criticize, or generally not talk to by other Gaians.
3.) Read the rules for whatever forum you decide to post in prior to posting. It will save you a lot of trouble and will also keep you from being yelled at by others.
4.) Begging for gold and items is fine as long as it is is done in the proper forum(s). Such threads should be placed either in the Chatterbox or in the Charity/Quests Forum. (NOTE: If you choose to place your thread in the Charity/Quest Forum, please be sure to set up your thread accordingly, and read the rules specific to that forum beforehand.)
5.) Please avoid adding people randomly without ever talking to them first, unless otherwise stated by the person. Not only will this annoy them, it will also probably cause some unfavorable terms to be thrown at you.

This section will tell you a couple of ways to make a little bit of gold if you're just starting out.
Almost everything you do here on Gaia will earn you a bit of gold! Whether it's posting in the forums, commenting on someone's profile, or just getting lucky and finding a nice person to donate. wink
It's easy to earn gold here nowadays.
1.) Posting in the Forums is a good way to rack up a bit of gold. Just be sure to follow the rules of whatever forum you choose to post in!
2.) Playing certain Games may grant you some stuff. If you want to try your luck at Slots or Cards, then you will require Tokens in order to play. Tokens can be purchased at Gold Mountain.
3.) You can create your own personal Journal as well! Add entries and allow everyone, just your friends or just you to see them! Posting an entry will grant you a little bit of gold.
4.) Here at Gaia Online, users can create and take care of their own virtual Aquarium. If you place fish in your tank and take good care of them, you'll be rewarded with a prize every day by clicking Jaws (the merman on the rock) in your aquarium! It could be anything from an item to just plain gold. If Jaws is glowing, click him for your reward.
5.) Now that you know about aquariums, Gaians can display them in their signature. If you spy one that happens to say "Booty Grab!" try clicking on it to start up a minigame in that user's aquarium. The rules will be explained when a game is started. Depending on how many fish and what kinds are in the tank, you could make a lot or a little bit of gold per tank.
