in jazz band, or any band, you have a key signiture. that tells you what you can and can't play, note wise (aka different sounds). when you improv in jazz band, you play the notes allowed by the key sig in different rhythms that go along with the music. this happens all the time in jazz band. sometimes a song is all improv with a steady base, but i'm off topic so anyway, he said anyone who wants to improv may. so one by one the brave students played their improv and eventually the song was ending. my trumpet pal edged me on to play, because i was a flute. JAZZ BAND CODE #1: the jazz band is made souly out of brass instruments (well......... mostly) EXCEPTION: me. and my pal, and our other pals. my pal 1 is a flute player as well. my other pals are bass, guitar, piano and percusion (drums). so we kinda stand out in a cool way. end of jbc i didn't wanna, cuz i was a little nervous. becuase flutes aren't regular jb instruments, my pal and i never got improv solos. it would be my first time doing one and it was concert night so i didn't wanna embarass myself. Dennis saw otherwise, though. he looked around and picked people to improv. he came to me and saw my flute. he pointed at it, looking shocked, and then back to me. then all my wonderful band mates started pointing at me too. i was shocked. they all wanted me to play that bad continue on next journal
