Things can get weird really easily, especially on Gaia. People seem to forget what they learned in Language Arts. I see text speech, lack of capitalization and punctuation, incorrect punctuation (and occasionally, capitalization), and horrific misspellings.
Then there are the people who actually attempt to convey a complete thought. Rather than putting "lol u r mkng me lol i heart u but they mk me so evil i hv a hedake im go slp nw lol", they say something like, "Ha! That was so freaking funny! I love you, but those guys make me so mad sometimes. Well, I have a headache, so I'm going to go to sleep for a while. Ha, that's still funny, though." It may still sound stupid, but it makes way more sense. I don't know what's happening. I was in the arenas, because I'm slowly morphing into a nerd, and I saw a great poem. It was lovely and told a great story. It had great syntax and personification. The only problem was the fact that it was all in text speak.
Another problem I have with people is that they think that if anyone talks differently than them, the other person is a snob. I actaully read someone's description of the following conversaton once on here, and it was a while ago.
Intelligent Gaian: When I go to Gaia's public places, like the Rally, I dress in starter outfits to see how differently people behave toward me, and so that people don't beg for gold. I also use proper grammar and spelling and capitalization. One day I met a person who was offended by this fact.

Intelligent Gaian:What makes you think that I'm British?

That's pretty bad. Apparently, if you type a message in a coherant manner, you have to be a foreigner. And many people who have no grammar or spelling skills are prettymisinformed and think that people who want to make their messages easier to read and make more sense are . . . (duhn duhn DUHN) . . . TERRORISTS. This is a pretty pathetic chain of thought, if you take a step back and think about it without outside interferance. Just a snack for thought.
But I was talking about the real world, was I not? I think that my straying toward my dissatisfaction with communication on Gaia is relevant because people portray themselves online quite well. There are no restrictions on the way they spell or the grammar they use, as in school and many carreers. So, if the Internet is any indication of how peoples' minds operate, then I am in fear.
But, as I was saying, the world makes no sense. Race, sex, abortion, marital status, sexuality, everything that makes a person who they are (way more than I listed) is seen by people who pick and choose what to see about the person. There are people who hate Obama for being African-American, disregarding the fact that he is highly intelligent, and if you want to split hairs, only 1/2 African-American. I have an African-American ancestor or two, (on the racist side of my mother's family, ironically enough) and for all the racist people out there know, so do they. Who are we to judge beautiful minds and personalities based on whether or not they are heterosexual. Some people say that they are "homophobic", but "homophobia" had been proven non-existent. What now, you sexuality-ists? There are many circumstances when the abortion thing gets foggy. What if the woman was raped? What if the child will be born dead? What if the child will be born with severe birth defects? What if the pregnancy is a risk to the mother's healt? There are more than just those, but that's not my point. My point is that there is no black and white. There are only millions of shades of gray.
