First off, I have just made my journal public viewable for the first time. Woo. xd
Second - after hearing the last half of my song cycle for the first time last night, I learned a few valuable things.
One, is that I'm not the only creative person in the world, and so I'm not the only person who has ever had the final product come out a little differently than what I had envisioned.
I feel bad, I really do. The song set is scored for 2 voices (sop. and mezzo) and piano, and was done very beautifully. By two of the people involved.
And that really is a horrible thing for me to think or feel. There they all were, nice enough to perform my song for me, and the first thing I think is, "I should have gotten someone else on the lower part"??!!
But, apparently I'm not the first creative person to think the same way. I mentioned how I felt to a few people around the school today (in the nicest way possible, I hope. I really do appreciate having the help, you must understand), and all of them responded by saying that things tend to be more perfect in one's mind than they are on the stage. That's the way it goes.
So, I have learned something new today, yes?
And I am determined to be grateful for the lesson. 3nodding
