Sleeping was a b***h. That’s to say the least too. For one reason or another I couldn’t stop having nightmares. At least I try telling myself their nightmares. For any werewolf they would be… Yeah that’s the wording that I’m looking for. Lets just say that the little she devil hadn’t left my mind alone the whole night. Even with the early morning hours she still haunted them. I was starting to wonder if I was going mentally insane or if this was some little trance she had placed on me. One way or another it made my stomach turn. Half of me enjoyed the images while the other half was appalled. I was terrified to go back to the pack. If they had read my mind then they would think I was some blood sucking lover.
Chills ran down my spine. I didn’t want to be that. There are those that choose to go down that path. Stupid if you ask me. The ‘lovers’ get hunted down by both of their kind. I haven’t heard of a single couple that has survived. Let alone thinking of them trying to reproduce…. My stomach turned again and I thought this time I was going to throw up. Maybe going back to the pack was a good idea. I was hoping that maybe someone else’s thoughts would cloud my own. Of course if I was under some trance I don’t think that the matter was going to be that easy. It was worth a shot though to say the least.
Getting back to the pack it was no surprise that my little buddy was going to be jumping at my feet as soon as he caught wind of me. I tried to not be too annoyed by the fact. At least he wasn’t talking about her again. Instead he told me all about the feast that I had missed out on last night. I guess some of the pack wanted to try and eat some of the thirstys. Why the hell someone would want to do that I don’t know. All I do know what the Sean turned his nose away in the air as if he smelt someone bad when he talked about it. I was guessing he was against the matter along with a lot of the others in the pack. He said some knuckle head tried it and just ended up barfing his brains out. I couldn’t hold back the chuckle from my throat when it was none other then Sam. What a ******** dip s**t.
There was soon a harsh snarl from behind me. Speak of the devil… I looked over my shoulder and noticed that he was no longer in werewolf form. Seems that his human stomach could handle the night before better then his other form. Shifting into my own human form I slipped my fingers through my hair and gathered myself into a ‘I’m better then you’ appearance. “Don’t get snappy with me because you were stupid enough to try and eat the dam things,” I said in a light chuckle. I could feel the grin stretch across my face when I noticed his face looking a little green at the thought.
“Oh, And were the ******** where you last night? I heard you and that mutt you’ve grown so attached to talking. Then you just up and vanish. Something clog that pathetic empty space you call a head?” On the mutt comment I could see he was trying to match my grin. It didn’t seem to have quiet the effect. Clearly my comment had done more damage then his was trying to match.
“Don’t start comparing my brain to yours. Last I checked I’m the alpha in our pack. Clearly after last night you showed that I deserve that title over you any day. Besides who said that I need to be with the pack 24/7. God forbid you guys become too dependent on me.” I thought that I would leave the mutt part out of this. My eyes flashed over at Sean and thought that he could take this battle if he wanted to. The death glare he was giving Sam was enough of a response. Looks like the kid was learning faster then the elders thought he was.
Before Sam could open his mouth again to my comment I simply turned on the balls of my heels and walked off shoving my hands into my acid washed denim jeans. It was rather interesting that our clothes didn’t get torn to shreds when we would shift in and out of forms. I guess that it’s all part of the magic or something to us. I didn’t bother to question it. All I know is that I was glad I don’t walk around naked half the time. Being in a pack of mostly all guys I would be a little concerned to sleep at night. I don’t know how the females do it. Though at least they had a wide pick of the pack. For one reason or another they all wanted me. Being the alpha though does come with that kind of charm. Behind me Sam huffed heavy. I could tell that was one thing he wanted most about the alpha trait. All the girls swooning over you. Though I couldn’t help but find most of them distasteful. Believe it or not I don’t know which race is worse when it came to the sexual pleasures. Use or them… We didn’t breed out of a pure lust. Though the same females were cycled around to the pack. I’ve had my fair share though now that I know more about the cycle.. Lets just say I’ll pass up on those offers.
There was a glow next to me and a bright smile. Looking over I noticed Sean had shifted back into his mortal form. He couldn’t pick through my head as well but he knew what I was thinking about. Clearly he hadn’t figured that out about the pack yet. I know boys will be boys but he didn’t look at it at all the way a normal boy would. Most boys would think ‘ew cuddies’ instead he had a sparkle to his eyes. Maybe this kid was more like me then I thought. I don’t know but one thing was for sure. He takes everyone by surprise. “No,” I told him not even bothering to tell him the rest. Catching on his mood instantly shifted into a mope. He was hoping to get in on that action soon.
Rolling my eyes I stepped over one of the pile of ashes that use to be a burning pile from the night before. The pack was just up ahead and they all seemed to be in a wonderful mood still. Though there was some shifting as they all looked ready to head off to a new place. At least there was one thing nice about being to a pack. They wouldn’t leave tell everyone was counted for. I was welcomed by a few open arms of the men while the elders nodded. It seems that I didn’t totally ******** last night up. I figured it would have been all glares over the fact that we nearly got pinned between the two hills. Instead that seemed to have worked to our advantage. One of the elders shifted his big head being in his wolf form. He was calling me over to have a talk. Something that I was rather pleased with when I noticed that the girls of the pack were about to mob me. I’m sure that I would have been raped if the elder hadn’t saved my a**.
There was a fire crackling a few yards away from the rest of the pack. There was a defined line as to how far was too close to the place. The elders never usually mingled with the rest of the pack. I guess it was a sign of disrespect or something of that nature. I didn’t bother to talk about it because it was a good way to get kicked out of the pack. Stopping at the line I noticed that I was motioned to move closer. It seemed that the elder wanted to have a talk with me. Shifting into my wolf form I walked pass the line and over to the fire. There he sat with his chest puffed out. It seems that the power had gotten to his head a little.
Reading his thoughts I found out that they seemed that they were rather pleased with last night. I tried to contain the smile I wanted to give. This was serious business and that was a good way to be taken down in ranks. Instead I nodded as a way to tell him thank you. He then continued on to tell me that I would be in charge of all the battles. From there he looked over an one of the other elders walked over with a folder in their mouth. Setting it onto the ground I flipped it open with my nuzzle. Inside there was information on all of the thirstys that I would need to know about. The first one that I was pointed towards was the demon from last night. It seemed that her name was Annalise Daniela… She was of the highest rank and also a princess of the vampire lords. Apparently she was drained close to the same day that I was for told by the gypsy… Rather interesting to say the least. I guess that one of the lords saw her and knew he had to calm her for his own. She was originally pointed to be a sex slave but she had too much fire to her soul and couldn’t be tamed. I couldn’t hold the grin back at that thought. A girl that had fight to her. That was always something fun.
Luckily my grin didn’t get me too in trouble. Instead the elder saw it as a game. That she was my Joker to my Batman. It was funny that he knew what that even was to a degree. He told me that it would be very entertaining to watch us fight again. The mind games that she plays and my strength. That thought made my thoughts sit uneasy… Was this all that the war was? Some little game to the elders? They were never on the battle fields. They never showed sorrow for :those that have fallen but when it comes to a good show then they’re all praise about the matter. It began to wonder if it was the same on the thirstys end as well. I’m sure that it was.
Wrinkling my nose I huffed not liking the thought of their elders standing by drinking at their victims as they laughed at us dying. It was a sickening thought to say the least. The elder nodded his head in agreement. At least we were on the same page about something at the moment. With that I was told to take the folder, study it and to be on my way. The pack was to leave and the elders would soon follow after. It seemed they could either handle themselves or figured if we were ambushed that they would survive if away from the pack. Either way it seemed childish and cowardly.
Getting back to the pack I shifted back into my human form. The folder was tight in my grip. “Ok it seems like we are to move out. You may stay in your wolf forms if you choose for now. We’re heading towards town and this means when it gets close you must be in human form. No if, ands, or buts about it.” With that I turned and began to head towards our next mission. It seemed that the elders wanted to hit the heart of the enemy. Something that I had been wanting to do for a while. Though it all seemed a little suicidal to say the least. After last night we know that they’re strong, not only that but there is more of them. Why would be continue on towards the dead heart of them? I didn’t bother to say anything during my little meeting. Even now I wasn’t going to say anything. Instead I thought it was best to stick to my orders.
Opening the folder again I flipped to the one name Annalise. It said that she had moved through the rankings rather quickly. Still being a newborn she did have a few flaws. Just like all the other newborns did. Even though that was the case I was still going to have to watch my back. What they lack in one case they are stronger in another. I didn’t know which was worse at this point, a thirsty that was weak in one place and stronger in another or the kind that was just all around even. Either way they could be a b***h and a half to fight.
Soon I found that I wasn’t even paying attention to where I was walking. Sean was now at my side and guiding me in the right direction so that I wouldn’t lead the pack on the wrong direction. My mind was so wrapped up in the thirstys not just them but her… Last night was still plaguing my mind. Sean could tell that something was up. Now I had wished I looked over the folder away from everyone. It was no wonder that the elders stayed away from the rest of the pack. It was too easy to tell when someone was a little off about something.
“It’s her again isn’t it?” He spoke to me in a soft tone as he looked over his shoulder. Most of the pack had shifted back into their mortal forms and were a safe distance away from us. “She’s had your head in a fog, I can tell.” He then looked over to the folder and caught sight of her picture. He looked over her bio a little. It seemed that I wasn’t the only one interested with her. “Do you think she’s enchanted you or something? Can they even do that? I mean there’s no telling everything that they can do is there?”
My eyes shifted over to him for a moment finally having broken away from the bio of hers. “I have no idea. I mean does it look like I’m a library with all the information on them?” I could see Sean’s eyes shift over to the folder away from my eyes. Clearly that was a yes. Sighing I flipped to another page and read over another bio. After what seemed like hours of reading I never came across anything that said something of enchanting a werewolf. “Well it seems that they can’t,” I told him after closing up the folder. I had enough reading for one day and more then enough of them. I found out things about their race I didn’t need or want to know. I could feel Sean become uneasy as he didn’t get the answer that he was looking for. It seemed that we were both hating what it was coming down to. It wasn’t unwilling that I couldn’t stop thinking about her. It was willing and unstoppable…
