Hello! Annabelle here. Today I've decided to start a series about the different styles of love~~! heart
This is mostly for my entertainment, so you might not want to take any of what I say seriously... unless you wish to become my minion on my conquest to rule the world!! ....If so, there are application forms that you can fill out. stare
Anywho, the theme of today's journal is:The Suspension Bridge Effect!! 3nodding
So, let's get started! By definition: The suspension bridge effect happens when a person crosses a suspension bridge and he sees someone of the opposite sex. his fear of falling down causes his heart to pound. He then mistakes that for the heart-pounding feeling felt when falling in love with the opposite sex. (<<< taken from Urban Dictionary )
In other words, the rush of adrenaline through said person's body when placed in a situation that the body finds to be dangerous will be confused with "love at sight" if the person experiencing this effect is not careful.
The suspension bridge effect is most commonly used in manga and anime, so shoujo otaku should be the most familiar with this term. It is also useful when confessing your love to another.
This effect would also explain why in so many mangas there are date scenes in which the main character and their opposite experience a thrilling evening at the amusement park. The adrenaline-inducing rides open up the perfect oppurtunity to confess your feelings to your crush and perhaps get a boyfriend/girlfriend, too.
While this may be a good tactic to remember, let me ask you this: Would you rather trick your crush into going out with you, or would you rather go out with them because they sincerely like you?
That is all i have to say on that matter. Anyways, there is no real way to be sure that the suspension bridge effect really works or not, but there is some pretty substantial logic that backs it up. If it ever worked for you, please let me know! 3nodding
