Religion is the subjest yet again.
Why am I writing about it again you may ask. Well, simply because of the fact that I think it is something that needs to be discussed.
To set things straight from the beginning: I don't dislike religion as such, but I am sick and tired of it playing such a big role in politics and the like. Gay marriage and creationism or intelligent as it is now called(yeah, no difference between the two) should NOT be part of any political or even intellectual debate. Church and state should be separate. Now that that's out of the way, let's move on.
Why is it that almost every time I talk to christians, they always seem to avoid certain questions and/or "accusations". Like why they think it is okay to follow a book which condones slavery, incest and murder. Furthermore, things such as God being a mega-lo-manic killer by killing the entire earth's population or destroying a whole city, because of a vague reference to homosexuality.
I don't mind christians as much when they actually look things up and admit that it might be like that. It is not because I want to be right, but more to spread awareness about what the bible actually says. I have come across people who say the things in the bible that I refer to does not exist. Then why would it be in my own bible? Seems to me like some things may have been censored. But isn't the bible the word of god? I doubt he would like to know he had been censored. Many christians like to pluck things out in the bible that suits their particular views, but does not take the bible as a whole. Otherwise, they would quickly see that not everything in the bible is as nice as we would think. You would be surprised if you saw all the stuff that is in there.
To briefly return to the topic about religion and state being separated. As you may know christian fanatics(yes, I did fanatics), have been outraged by students being taught about evolution. They then decide that it should be labeled as just being a "theory". I laugh at their loose definition of the term theory. Gravity is a theory too and has that been proven? Funny enough, it has. Anyway, so the christian parents want intelligent design to be taught alongside evolution. Now, the problem with intelligent design, is that is NOT science.
Faith has nothing to do within the school. Religion is something you practice in your spare time and should interfere with school, where you are supposed to learn things. And since intelligent design is not science or even based on real evidence, then why teach it in school? It is both a waste of everyone's time and the schooløs money.
The next point is the political debate. Why is it that homosexuality is part of this? Sexual preferences is something personal, not public. Why not discuss matters that are actual relevant to the current state of the country?
This is an ongoing debate, but I felt like expressing my opinion on the matter.
Thank you for reading.
