hey, you up for some one on one this weekend?
Might be fun. ^^ I can always give it a shot.
sweet! I need some writing skills brought back up! So setting: Lita's gets her memory back and powers after an attack and leaves to kinda hide out and avoid one certain icy captain while still being hurt and is hiding in a cabin in the woods.
Alright.
angst anyone? wink
x33 I take it Hitsugaya tracks her down admist her angsting?
Yep! mahaha!
Every part of her upper arms acted, but the wood needed to be chopped for the small fire place of the cabin high in the woods. Snow clung to the branches of the pines, casting a sheet of white of what was once green in this icy world. Lita only pushed on for one more chop but there was no rest here. A week had passed..a week from the attack...a week from her memory coming back and the reshaping from Hunter back to shinigami or a stand still of both maybe. A week from seeing him..."You know, running away will not help anything Lita.." The voice was female, like a whisper of wind that passed through the pine trees round her. " The gray eyes only looked at the form of a black wolf laying on the snow and watching her. "Cry. just leave it for now.." It might not seem strange that the once demon souled that had been part of her had chosen to become a soul blade like Reizo was. "I just need time away from that place and him.." Its all she left off for now...remembering those teal eyes..
One week. One whole week. It wasn't that long, not really. But when one took into account everything that one Hitsugaya Toushirou had gone through in that one week, it began to seem like an eternity. From meeting her, to losing her again, to appealing for leave to go after her (it had been hell t convince Ukitake-soutaichou and the others that she was an ally worth pursuing), to searching all over the damn place, and now, finally... The young captain looked out over the snowy scenery surrounding him, covering the foliage in familiar wreathes of white. It was his favorite type of weather, but that wasn't exactly what was on his mind as he slowly encroached upon the lonely shelter, his reiatsu hidden with the prowess of a captain-level shinigami. He could hear muffled voices, though he wasn't quite close enough to tell what they were saying. When he finally deemed he was close enough, he paused, letting the whitened landscape hide him from the woman only several meters away. Now, how to approach said woman without causing her to either A) run away or B) attack him. Yes. That would be the difficult part.
It seemed a moment could last an eternity to her these days with the flood of memories of who Mika had been just ten years. Who was the real personalty then right now in this body? Lita for the moment only sat on the tree stomp as the amber eyes of the wolf watched on with a slight concern for the young girl. Much had happened to both of them for moment....to have ones world turn round in a matter of week.. but she had to ask. "Why did you run Lita...?" the voice hung in the air as much as feather like snow did falling round the pair of living souls. She only took a long drawn breathe at the wolf's pick of questions. "I couldn't face him Cry...after what I did to him once before...leaving for no reason, hiding who i was from the start..and do you think someone like Cap could look at me like before..knowing what I have...being a killer. Yes I am controlled but I am a controlled killer...Do you think I could look at him and knowing all this?" anguish filled her voice for the moment as she buried her face into her hands a bit...
The young captain could hardly believe his own ears. Hiding who she was? Leaving for no reason? And that was supposed to excuse everything? That's why she was gone, that's why she'd left again? Oh, hell no. Icy glare firmly in place, he stepped out of his hiding spot, hands folded across his chest, standing as tall as he could muster so that he could look down on Lita's sitting form. "As stupid as ever, I see," he grunted derisively. "If I'd known this was the way things were, I wouldn't have come looking for you. If those are your excuses, then you obviously know nothing about me."
His voice just triggered the moment the 9MM sliped into her hand in a motion most eyes may not see save a few to be pointed in his evisceration. Even the gray eyes stopped from the deep sorrow to the tarnished silver for the moment. Yet she remembered for a moment who it was, the captain of the tenth Hitsuyaga-taicho. "What are you doing here Hitsugaya-sama?" Lita asked, trying to hide maybe the truth of what he had heard. Not going back to the nick name of Cap or Hitsu but as Lita would say, sama or Taicho. "Or have you come to drag me back to thee fair Court of Ashen Halls to bring me to my death as being branded a runaway by the Leader you follow." Her voice was solid and showed no pain or fear like always as the gun was lowered from the captain of the tenth.
He snorted at the formal address, not buying a word of it. Mika had always been a good actress; why would Lita be any different? He hadn't flinched when the weapon had risen to aim directly at him, knowning that a weapon like that, even if it could do harm to him, wouldn't kill him. And if Lita had fired, it would have been at her own peril. But she didn't, as he'd suspected. Instead, she went off on a monotonous rant about ashen halls and running away. "I would think you'd know better than most how runaways are treated," he replied, his tone still one of superiority over her. He had, after all, brought MacKenna Mika back to Seireitei after she'd attempted to run to Rukongai. "And Ukitake-soutaichou hardly has any jurisdiction over a hunter." This he spoke deliberately and purposefully, letting his sharp glare tell her exactly what he meant. No matter what or who she happened to be, she was not classified technically as a shinigami but as a hunter. A loophole Hitsugaya was willing to extort if it meant finding out what was going on here. Yet, even beyond that, something in his crystal gaze seemed to suggest even more meaning behind the words. To someone who had read him as well as Mika, it would be clear that, despite everything, he really didn't see Lita as being the same person as Mika. For him, Mika had died ten years ago.
Something broke inside the woman at his voice, the cold lay in the tone so much like the snow round them but it lingerd bitterly in her state. "Runaway huh? So is that is labed these days in the Courts?" she shot back with a deeper vemon to that also damn uppity tone of hins once more. Why did he always did that? Use that tone when he was angery? Lita recalled it so many times now as the memoires flooded her mind yet also one thing lingered. Before she could speak to him, the shot of pain gripped her spine and shot up in her nerves to point of breaking of her body as her hand reached out to tree next to her. Everything was blurry as her vision swam in the pain, it had happened so much so week as her body got rid of the demon blood in her veins. One single tear fell over the Oni tattoo that still lay on her cheek and would as the tale of her life before hand. As the pain moved away, Lita's voice was shaken but softer then normal. " Hunter? Not for much longer...then what? My body is fighting the demon blood and winning Hitsugaya-sama and it hurts...I am paying in some form for what I did if it makes you happy." she shot back, coughing out once more. "I was dying before hand..and now I have gained life once more...why? Just to fight? What kind of life is that? A bitter one and lonly..." she echoed in the sorrow of her mind for moment. "If you've come to take me back...god damn't Hitsu I can't go back like this...weak..useless...what use am I to the you...or the Balance in this state?"
It was then that Hitsugaya was reminded of the universe's one, great rule: It can always get worse. And the more she talked, the more she coughed, the more she revealed of her situation, the angrier he got. He wasn't sure what he'd been expecting, but somewhere in the back of his mind, he might have thought seeing her again and hearing her explain would help things. He'd be able to move on from there. But this... This he couldn't work with. This just made things worse again, and he was sick and tired of everything getting worse and worse. "You never shut up," he very nearly growled, diminishing the distance between them so that he could grab her upper arm. He held on tight, more to support her than to threaten her, but he wasn't about to say that. He was just too furious. "In all of the time I have known you, all you do is talk! You talk about how miserable life is, how you can't do this or that, how you care! And then when you're finally done moving your damn mouth, you still haven't learned a thing! You just keep lying to yourself and everyone else, dammit! You don't even realize what I-!" His breath hitched in his throat, keeping him from finishing his sentence as, for just a second, he realized how out of control he was acting, how angry she'd really made him. Leave it to her to always through him off. But that thought just got him started again. "If you'd just shut your trap long enough to look after your own damn self, you wouldn't be so helpless and you could stop beating yourself about not being able to help everyone else! If you'd just told me what the hell was going on in the first place, there would have been nothing to worry about!"
His actions caused a sudden shock to her mind like some kind of bad acid fall hit her system. Or maybe it was how angry he was and actuality acting on it then playing the Ice Prince he had been labeled as in his years of taking the the Captains spot all those years ago. Lita had felt him take her upper arm which normally she didn't let anyone come this close anymore...many years of fighting had left her with a abstract to close cotters or being held like this. Fighting the urge to pull back and keep some space, Lita only held her body still and listened to his words. Letting his words hit home a bit too close for her taste...yet the last part caught her mind. "f you'd just told me what the hell was going on in the first place..." he had referred to himself first...somethings never did change..or what she had felt ten years ago. "You've got to understand some Hitsu..in my world its just you and no one else..any little sign of weakness is jumped on ....the idea that I can...relay on is a alien thought to me and still is even now..." her voice was softer as with out thinking on her actions, her forehead came to rest on his shoulder even if she was a bit taller now.."I am also scared of you..what I felt back then and even now..."
"Then be scared, dammit! Just stop running away!" he growled, refusing to let go of her arm. "If you-! I-!" Even as he tried to keep yelling, he could feel the anger simmering down into a crippling lump in the back of his throat. It was hard to speak; it was hard to breathe. It took every ounce of his strength to keep his eyes dry. "If you run away one more time... I don't think I can go after you again."
He was shaking, angry sounding but something else all the more as his grip would later bruise her soft flesh when the sun once more rose on this land. "I won't runaway any more...not from you at least anymore." she whispered, her voice feather light and sorrow filled like a lost child. This young man had changed and touched something deep in her no else had. "Could I stay by your side..if you let me Hitsuyaga?" Lita whispered still, pressing more into his body to maybe hide from the chill in the air.
Her voice was so quiet he almost didn't hear her. Almost. But he caught every word, every syllable, and it was as if a weight was slowly, cautiously lifting itself off of his shoulders. It had come out of her own mouth. No more running. He'd hold her to that as long as he could. And maybe, just maybe, she'd really stay this time. He sighed, his relief obvious as he finally loosened his hold on her arm before letting go altogether to wrap his arms around her waste. The warmth was welcoming; he hadn't felt it in a long, long time, and he didn't realize how much he'd missed it until now. "Idiot..." he muttered one last insult, for good measure, though there was no more anger in it this time. "That's where you should have been all along."
What would he do now? Shove her back? Say something that would send her away once more? Rejection? All those thoughts flowed in her mind like a river after a thunder storm. What would he do now? Lita held her breathe all the more as she waited for his words. Yet it was as he let go of her arm she knew the worse was to come but shock came this time with a welcome, feeling Hitsuyaga embrace her with that so called name calling he used. Burying her face into the hollow of his neck as she herself wrapped her arms round him to draw him closer. "I promise not to leave you again with telling you were I drift too Cap.."Lita muttered as her hair fell loose from the binding to act like a shroud to her eyes.
He leaned his head ever so slightly into her hair, but otherwise he didn't move as she drew in closer. He didn't trust himself to move. He'd done nothing but move, move, move without allowing himself to stop and think for years, but now he just couldn't move. He was afraid, he realized somewhere in the back of his mind. He was afraid that this wasn't real. But he refused to acknowledge that fear and just stood there quietly in Lita's arms. A promise from her was more than he could ever ask for. He knew she'd keep it. Now if only he could think clearly maybe he'd be able to put that to good use.
Part of her waited and seemed to sense something from him a bit off. How much had ten years taken a toll on the young captain of the tenth? What damage had she done to him? A wetness leaked from her eyes for a moment at this raw feeling shot from the core of her heart. "I won't leave Hitsu, I promise..you don't have to be alone anymore...." she whispered into the silver locks as her tears left a stain on his white jacket.
Something seemed to click in place as soon as she spoke those words. Nothing changed, he didn't have any sudden epiphany nor did he feel any more capable of handling the situation before him, but somehow something was different anyway. He felt the dampness on his shoulder and instantly squeezed her tighter, hiding his face in her hair. A strange, dry chuckle forced itself out of his vocal chords, sounding almost deranged for how out of place it was. "I wasn't the one who was alone," he hardly managed a whisper himself, his voice muffled by her almond brown hair.
Feeling him bring her closer as she spoke those words made irony seem like a paradise to her last ten years. That scent of snow and mint filled her sense of smell all the more, yet it carried that ever hidden sorrow for some reason still to her. Lita only smiled a bit and knew he would hear it in her voice at his statement. "Alone? I think in a way we both were...I never forgot you Hitsu even when my memory was blocked...you always appeared in the corniest thing of my dreams or when it snowed....I felt this deep sorrow in my heart.." her words lost at the end for the moment in voicing this fact. Just almost fearing he might leave her maybe..
