It's a rainy day, I'm feeling uninspired to do anything creative, so what do I do? I decide to spend my day productively wasting time on the internet. More specifically, at the behest of a friend, I join Gaia. Well, I say 'behest' - it was more like a fairly friendly order. Her phrasing was along the lines of 'you need to join Gaia. I mean right now. Seriously'.
Call it what you wish, as is (I now realise) blatantly obvious, I joined. I don't think anything has confused me so much since I first set eyes on Chaucer's Canterbury Tales...in Middle English. For one thing, why do my avatar's legs become a funny little blur whenever I move in towns? For another, how do I equip my house? And why do they give me gold for moving about the world?
I still haven't figured out the former, am getting to grips with the second, andrather like the latter. Can you imagine if you were given cash everytime you moved in the real world? Now that would be an exercise incentive!
In any case, it only took me a few months to get to grips with Chaucer, and surely navigating an internet site (which I'm no stranger to) must be somewhat easier...
Famous last words.
