So, I finally finished watching Battle Royale.

Wow. Just wow. I really, really like this movie. Not because of the violence--I don't think most people like this movie just for its violence--but because of all the questions it raises. And I'm also a big fan of books/movies about totalitarian governments. I swear, everyone thinks I'm some conspiracy theorist about the government. xp

I've gotta say, I don't truly know what I'd do if I were placed in that situation. (For those who don't know, the government and adults in general have stopped trusting kids entirely and randomly choose a class to participate in their "Battle Royale" where it's basically kill or be killed. The last survivor gets to leave the island, knowing that he/she killed all of his/her classmates.) A lot of people say they would or wouldn't kill, but we don't know until we've been in that situation.

I'd like to say that I wouldn't kill anyone unless I had to. I don't know if I'd trust people in general. I'd probably be very paranoid of anyone who I wasn't close to. But what do I know? If someone's pointing a gun at me, would I honestly just freeze and let them kill me? I think I'd fight for my life and my friends' lives.

I might get thoughts of killing the very, very few I hate, but I hope I'd have the heart to keep myself from actually doing it.

When I saw the first half, I figured I'd probably commit suicide. But I think I'm too afraid to do that. And I'd want to at least try to find a way out of it.

I definitely recommend watching that film to everyone. It has so many great messages. However, it is rather gory, but that's for a reason. Instead of glorifying bloodshed and showing how "cool" it is like in most action flicks, it portrays how devastating and downright terrible it is. I didn't feel happy when I saw anyone die, and I thought I was going to cry whenever I saw friends turn on each other and kill each other.

Well, it's really late. I should probably stop rambling and go to bed.
