Zveits
The are highest ranking elite squad within the Deep Ground Soldiers. All of the members of the group are named after colors, hence the group's name, Zveits, which is Russian for colors. Five members appear in the single player mode, and at least one more member appears in the online mode. It is currently unknown how many total members there will be, or how many are still alive at the end of the game.
A member of Zveits, known as "Azul the Cerulean.” His name means blue in Spanish and Portuguese. He first appeared in Before Crisis. He uses a large cannon as his weapon and can transform into a Behemoth-like creature.
A young girl who wields two energy spears. Her name means orange in Urdu, a reference to her amber-colored eyes. She appears to be Shalua's younger sister. Commonly seen along with Azul, as she is helping him hunt down Vincent. She is the only member of Zveits that remains "colorless,” a plot point that is detailed in the storyline of the game's multiplayer modes. She is the only serving member by the game's end.
A member of Zveits, known as "Rosso the Crimson.” Her name means red in Italian. She wields a two-sided blade weapon, and is almost playfully brutal. She commits suicide while saying “No one is stronger then me…NO ONE!”
One of the members of Zveits, called "Nero the Deep Darkness,” he refers to Weice as his brother. His body is always covered in darkness, and the player cannot see his figure clearly. The darkness Nero controls draws in everything, and it is possible for him to take them out of it. It is said that the restraint like outfit he wears is to keep his power under control. Though mortally wounded by Weice, he fused himself with Weice's body to give him the power to "fight" Hojo's hold on him. His name means black in Italian.
A mysterious SOLDIER who commands the DGS. Called "Seiger Weice (Vice) the Immaculate Emperor,” he declares a hunt on the world three years after the Meteor crisis. All Deep Ground SOLDIERS fear his power, and follow him, but it is said that they rarely see him directly. He has spiky gray hair and wields two katana-rifle hybrids (sometimes referred to as "gunblades" by fans, though they're notably different from the Final Fantasy VIII weapons that are officially referred to by that name). He is actually housing the computer-simulated personality of Hojo, and becomes possessed by this. This emulated version of Hojo, through Vice's body, had the DGS abduct those not under the effects of Geostigma to serve as incubators of enough pure Mako to enable Weice to absorb Omega. However, Weice managed to fight back control over his body and committed suicide, taking Hojo with him. His name means 'white' in German.

Barret Wallace
"Barret" redirects here. For the Barrett rifle, see M82 (rifle).

Is a video game character in the role-playing game Final Fantasy VII. Early in the game, he is the leader of a militant eco-group called "AVALANCHE," located in Midgar, though this position later passes to Cloud Strife. He also serves as a supporting character in the CGI film sequel, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, where he is voiced by Masahiro Kobayashi in the Japanese version and Beau Billingslea in the English version.

The character in the English translation of the game is sometimes criticized as being a stereotype of African Americans, due to his speech mannerisms which (unlike in the original Japanese version) are quite different from those of the rest of the characters in the game. His name is a Japanese transliteration of the English word "Bullet.” In the debug room of the English version, he has the alternate name of "Ballet.”
Biography
Final Fantasy VII and Before Crisis
Barret grew up in the small, coal-mining village of Corel. He was a leading advocate in cooperating with Shin-Ra in building a mako reactor in Corel, as he believed that it would lead to an easier life for Corel's people. After the reactor was built much to the dissatisfaction of Barret's best friend, Dyne, however anti-Shin-Ra terrorists (also known as "AVALANCHE" wink attacked the reactor, and believing that they may have been operating within Corel Shin-Ra responded to the incident by indiscriminately burning down the town of Corel, killing many citizens, including Barret's wife Myrna. He and Dyne were not in the village as the attack began, and when they tried to return, they were attacked by Shin-Ra troops led by Scarlet. Barret: "That's how the Corel Reactor was built.... and completed. We all thought it would bring us an easier life. It happened when Dyne and I were out of town for a few days. Corel was burned down by the Shinra troops. All the townspeople... All my relatives......... Everyone... Everything..." / Cloud: "Shinra troops? What for?" / Barret: "There was an explosion at a reactor. Shinra blamed the accident on the people. Said it was done by a rebel faction." ... / Barret: "Not only did they take advantage of me... But I lost my wife, Myrna, too..."(Final Fantasy VII) Though Barret survived, his right forearm was hit by gunfire and rendered useless when he tried in vain to prevent Dyne from falling off a cliff. Assuming Dyne to have been killed, he adopted Marlene, Dyne's daughter, and then traveled to Midgar. He also had gun prosthetic grafted to his arm and began seeking revenge on Shin-Ra, eventually becoming the leader of the second incarnation of AVALANCHE. However, he remained ignorant of the full extremity of the former AVALANCHE

During the game, Barret meets Dyne again at the desert prison beneath the Gold Saucer, site of the original town of Corel. Dyne, driven insane by the events from years before, survived his fall and became a cold-blooded murderer with a gun-arm in place of his left forearm, as his original was destroyed at the same time as Barret's right forearm. Dyne's insanity became apparent when he announced that he wanted to kill Marlene, believing that her mother, Eleanor, must be lonely without her in the Lifestream. Dyne then forces Barret to fight him, a fight that Barret wins. Dyne: "So... she's still alive... All right, Barret. I guess that means you and I gotta fight." / Barret: "What!?" / Dyne: "Eleanor's alone all by herself. I've got to take Marlene to her." / Barret: "Dyne.... are you insane!?" / Dyne: "Marlene wants to see her Mom, don't she?” (Final Fantasy VII) Immediately afterward, Dyne asks Barret to give a pendant to Marlene that had belonged to his wife. Dyne then commits suicide by throwing himself off the edge of the cliff.

Barret traveled as a member of AVALANCHE all the way to the game's final battle with Sephiroth. He finds personal reason for the struggle in allowing Marlene a future.
2 Year Period
After the Meteor incident, the group went their separate ways. Barret, along with Cloud and Tifa Lockhart, traveled to Kalm where they told Elmyra of Aerith's sacrifice. Later, while establishing a new Seventh Heaven bar in the newly built city of Edge, Barret obtained a new prosthetic hand that could unfold into a gun-like weapon. He functioned as the bar's bouncer until he decided to leave Marlene in the care of Cloud and Tifa and search for a new energy source to replace Mako. As can be seen in the beginning of Advent Children, his efforts led to the discovery of large oil fields.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

At the movie, Barret left a message for Cloud about his oil field find. He appeared in person for the fight with Bahamut SIN. Barret's new prosthetic can charge up with green energy and fires in a manner reminiscent of his Limit Break, Big Shot. The attack appears to be quite powerful, able to send Bahamut SIN reeling, but also rather unreliable, as it would seem to take varying lengths of time to charge up.
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII
Barret has a small role in Dirge of Cerberus, appearing most notably during the World Restoration Organization's full-scale conflict with the Deep Ground organization, where he drives one of the assault trucks.

Cait Sith (Final Fantasy VII)

is a playable character in the Squaresoft role playing game Final Fantasy VII. He was voiced by Hideo Ishikawa for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and Greg Ellis in the English version of the CGI film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

Cait Sith is a cat that sits on top of a giant stuffed moogle, to which he gives orders by using a megaphone. As a somewhat cartoonish character, he quite noticeably stands out from the game's overall dark theme. His name is derived from Celtic folklore, meaning "Fairy Cat."
Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII
Cait Sith appears in Episode 20 of Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII to assist the Turks, while Reeve Tuesti (Cait Sith's controller) plays an overall small role in the game as architect of Midgar and minister of Shin-Ra's Housing and Urban Development.
Final Fantasy VII
Cait Sith initially joins the party in the Gold Saucer, a place that is something of a combined casino/amusement park. He joins after offering to use his abilities as a fortuneteller to predict Cloud Strife's future. The prediction is a rather grim one, as he tells Cloud that he will find what he seeks but will also lose something dear, foreshadowing the ultimate fate of Aerith Gainsborough. He joins the party, arguing that he cannot leave without knowing how this "rare fortune" will turn out. Cloud: "What the!?" ... / Cloud: "What you pursue will be yours. But you will lose something dear." / Cait Sith: "I don't know if it's good OR bad... This is the first time I ever got something like THIS. Then shall we?" ... / Cait Sith: "As a fortune teller, I can't help but think about this. If I do not see what it leads to, I will not be able to relax. That's why I'm going with you!" ... / Cait Sith: "I'm goin no matter WHAT you say!” (Final Fantasy VII) Cait Sith has a rather eccentric and strange personality, and few of the other characters know what to make of him.

Later in the game, it is revealed that "Cait Sith" is actually an animatronics robot that is being controlled by remote by Reeve Tuesti, who is himself a reluctant member of the despotic Shin-Ra's board of directors, where he serves as the head of the Department of Urban Development. Reeve's intent was to use Cait Sith to infiltrate AVALANCHE and sabotage their resistance efforts on behalf of his employers.

When the team reaches the Gold Saucer to retrieve the Keystone required to gain entry to the Temple of the Ancients, Cait Sith's role as a spy becomes apparent, as he betrays the party by stealing the Keystone and handing it over to the Turks. However, Reeve has a change of heart, deciding that he wants to stay with the team and betray Shin-Ra. Untrusting, the party refuses, but instead of getting kicked out of the team, he coerces them into letting him remain with them, revealing that Barret Wallace's adopted daughter, Marlene, is in his custody. Feeling that they have no choice, AVALANCHE agrees to allow Cait Sith to remain with them. Cait Sith: "...Alright, yes, I am a Shinra employee. But we're not entirely enemies. ...Something bothers me. I think it's your way of life. You don't get paid. You don't get praised. Yet, you still risk your lives and continue on your journey. Seeing that makes me... It just makes me think about my life. I don't think I'd feel too good if things ended the way they are now." / Aerith: "...And so on, and so on..." / Cloud: "He'll never tell the truth. Once a spy, always a spy. We can't go on with someone like that. C'mon, get real
Cait Sith: "...just as I thought. Talking won't make a bit of difference. But I prepared something in case this happened. Why don't you listen to this?" / Marlene (through a transmitter): "Papa! Tifa!" / Aerith: "Hey! That's Marlene!" / Marlene (through the transmitter): "Hey! It's the flower lady! Flower lady..." / Cait Sith: "...So, you have to do as I say." / Cloud: "...you're the lowest..." / Cait Sith: "I didn't want to do this... using dirty tricks and taking hostages... But this is how it is... no compromises. So why don't we continue on as we did?" / Cloud: "...Well, we're stuck... We'll have to do what he says.” (Final Fantasy VII)

Later, in the Temple of the Ancients, it's revealed that in order to unlock its secret (the Black Materia), a mechanism inside the temple had to be activated. However, it's also discovered that activating it would cause the very structure to collapse upon itself, crushing anyone who attempted to retrieve the Black Materia. Cloud: "This huge Temple? This is the Black Materia!? Then no one could take it." / Aerith: "Hmm, it's pretty hard. You see this is a model of the Temple. And inside it is a device, which gets smaller each time you solve a puzzle. As the model becomes smaller, you become smaller too. Until it's small enough to fit in the palm of your hand." / Cloud: "So, if we solve the puzzles, the Black Materia will get smaller and smaller and we can take it out?" / Aerith: "Yes, but there's one thing... You can only answer puzzles inside the Temple. So, anyone who solves the puzzle will be crushed by the Temple.” (Final Fantasy VII) Cait Sith was willing to sacrifice himself, as he was just a stuffed toy and the most expendable member of the team. Cait Sith (over the cell phone): "Hi, Cloud. This is Cait Sith. I overheard the whole story! Don't forget about me. Everything you said makes perfect sense! You can use my stuffed body for the future of the Planet."(Final Fantasy VII) Cait Sith no.1's death is presented in a very dramatic fashion despite the fact that he was just a robot. Before he "dies," Aerith asks him to work his fortune-telling skills one more time to predict how compatible she and Cloud Strife were as a romantic couple. He concludes that they are a perfect match. Aerith: "Why don't you read our fortunes?" / Cait Sith: "Say, that's right... I haven't done it in a while, huh? I am so excited. Right or wrong, I'm still the same 'ol me. Now, what should I predict?" / Aerith: "Hmm, let's see how compatible Cloud and I are!" ... / Cait Sith: "This isn't good. I can't say it. Poor Tifa." ... / Aerith: "No! Tell me! I promise I won't get mad!" / Cait Sith: "Is that so? Then I'll tell you. Looks good. You are perfect for each other!” (Final Fantasy VII)

He then leaves to solve the puzzle of the Ancients that unlocks the Black Materia. He successfully unlocks the materia and is destroyed as the temple implodes. Moments later, however, another version of Cait Sith awkwardly arrives on the scene, hence completely negating any tragedy or sense of loss in the process. The reason for this was to desensitize players to the idea of tragedy in the death of a party member, allowing the upcoming death of Aerith which would be delivered without the pre-established notion in mind that she would die to be all the more shocking, for Aerith's death would not overtly be a sacrifice, but bear the semblance of a cold-blooded murder instead.

After the events of Final Fantasy VII, Reeve set up a new group called "the World Restoration Organization" (WRO), their mission being to undo the damage Shin-Ra had inflicted on the Planet. Both he and Cait Sith make reappearances in the sequels Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

(Left to Right) Cait Sith as he appears in Advent Children; Reeve and Cait Sith as they appear in Dirge of Cerberus
Cait Sith plays a small supporting role in Advent Children, but it is clear that his controller has kept in touch with the rest of the group. Cait Sith makes a brief appearance in the latter half of the film, fighting along with AVALANCHE when Midgar is overrun by Shadow Creepers and attacked by Bahamut SIN. Square-Enix has explained that the toysaurus moogle was cut due to the extra amount of work that would have been required to animate it. The creators notably point out that they already disliked animating both Cait Sith and Red XIII due to the level of detail required for their fur. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children director commentary Also, the English dubbed voice for Cait Sith is Scottish (possibly due to the origins of his name), slang included, which was not displayed in the dialogue of the Playstation game. However, considering that more than one Cait Sith exists, it could be said that this Cait Sith is a new version with a Scottish accent included. Reeve does not physically appear in Advent Children, but he has a brief speaking role, having left a message in Cloud's voice mail. Like most of the other characters, the English dub of Reeve's voice uses a standard American English accent.
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII
Cait Sith plays quite a large role in the follow-up to Advent Children, though his controller plays an even larger role as one of the game's main characters. Cait Sith is the only character other than Vincent Valentine to be playable in the game, while Reeve leads the WRO in its conflict with the Deep Ground SOLDIERs (the villains of the game) and its struggles to rebuild the world in the wake of what has gone before.
