The blood slid down the long, cold, metal pole that once stabalized a swingset. The swings now moved silently with the wind, rocking back and forth, back and forth. Creaking, rusty metal chains seemed about ready to collaspe on the stiff body that lay directly below them. Not even two hours ago, the perky, blonde, cheerleader had been a shining example of the american dream. Dancing around, practicing for a dance recital that would take place in a couple weeks. A dance recital that would now be cancelled due to "technical difficulties." She was friendly and beautiful and exoctic. The perfect girl...
Steam filled the bathroom as the hot water gently slid down her body. It was relaxing to sit in the shower as the water gently massaged her shoulders, her back, everything. The water was calm and soothing, it relieved the stress that lingered in the back of her mind. Clawing at the back of her mind, destroying anything that dared cross the front. It was frustrating to sit and not be able to think clearly. It seemed like every action she made was a faulty decision. She decided to turn the water off. She wrapped the fluffy, yellow towel around her head as if to block the stress that took over her life. Before she wrapped herself with the thick, blue towel she glanced at the mirror. The gut she had inherited from her father was still there, even after the intense workouts she had done all week. She sighed and slumped out of the bathroom. Not one foot had stepped inside her bedroom when the phone rang. She turned and slumped off toward the phone. "Riley?!" The familiar female voice shook her as she tried to figure out why she would call. "Mrs. P?" She replied, her words were slow and confused. Why would the mother of her best friend be calling? "Riley, something horrible has just happened. Amelia...has been found." Riley would have expected Mrs. Paolini to be relieved that her daughter had been found, but instead pain rang from her voice. "What?!" " What I mean is...her," She paused for a second, and took a breath, " They found her body." Sobs engulfed the other end of the phone, but Riley couldn't hear anything. It was as if she was deaf. Did she just hear correctly? Her best friend, Her ONLY friend had just been found...dead?!
