The War that Never Was

Chapter IV

A few hours passed while on the airship. I was asleep in my seat until someone shook me rather roughly. My eyes felt so heavy I could barely even open them. "Hey kid wake up." I heard a man talking to me. I sat up and rubbed my eyes noticing the door was open to the airship. "We're here." I stood rather shakily then squinted as I walked outside. I looked in awe at the place we were in since I've never been outside the walls of the city. "Wow..." The area was all covered in wood, the trees were a blue color with the leaves the same. Trails leading up to the canopies were sparkling streams of life. When people die on our planet, they go into the lifestream, then their memories are formed into orbs at the place of their memories. I noticed a few men walking past me as they shoved me onto the ground. "Watch where you're going!" He shouted laughing with his friend. I growled and stood up brushing myself off. Soldiers were motioning towards the camp on the outskirts of the woods. I was escorted to my tent as I walked in it was quite spacious, though it was unpleasant because it consisted of the man that shoved me. "'Ey, its the weakling." He started laughing with another man as I snorted and walked back out. "I'd rather sleep outside then with those pigs." I grumbled looking back at the tent. Without looking where I was going I bumped into a man. I shook my head and looked at him. "Watch where-! You're... Going?" My face started to get hot as I stared at the man I bumped into. His hair was blond and spiky like my brother's, he had a tan completion with burning blue eyes, he was about a few inches taller then me. He was slightly muscular but not too much to be considered like my uncle. "Sorry, I was just overwhelmed with the forest." He spoke smiling. It felt like my heart just melted after seeing his smile, though I quickly shook it off so it didn't look like I was 'funny' to him. "Yea-" I cleared my throat. "I mean yea it is nice." I spoke in my fake male accent. He raised an eyebrow as he shook my hand. "Nice talkin' to you... Uh..." I blinked realizing he was asking for my name. "Auro- Reks! Yea that's it Reks." He smiled and slapped me on the back as I winced in pain. "My name's Kai. Well I have to get back to my tent. See ya around." He waved to me as he walked away. I smiled then realized quickly, I fell in love.

I sat in my tent when it got dark and yawned ready to sleep. After I closed my eyes it seemed like a few minutes later all the guys in the tent started snoring. I groaned and put my pillow over my head to hopefully drown out the cacophony. A few hours later I heard a horn go off as I woke up and rubbed my eyes. Noticing the guys were still fast asleep I walked out carrying my weapon. A few other people were out of their tents as we walked over to the guy that blew the horn. "Today we are training people! No sissying about!" He looked straight at me as I raised an eyebrow. "Alright lets move!" He jumped off the stool he was on and marched us into the woods. I scanned around me to see where Kai was. I spotted his blond hair as I punched him in the back, he didn't flinch. He turned his head and looked at me. "Oh hey! Ready for this?"
"What kind of 'training' are we doing?" I asked.
      "Monsters. Kill 'em."
      "Oh... That sounds wonderful."
He laughed. "That's the spirit!" I grumbled as we all stopped. My legs wabbled slightly while I waited for something to happen. I pulled out my weapon as it was dead silent. A loud screech was heard as a large birdlike creature flew in above us. Pulling up my gunblade I aimed at its head, it was a big enough target. I shot the first attack hitting the creature's eye as it screeched even louder. The others started to throw spears and swords as it went down quickly. I noticed Kai was gone from my side as I noticed a man jump onto the bird and stab his sword in the birds back as it screeched once again and fell onto the ground. The man stood up and pulled his sword out of the bird. I then realized it was Kai.He jumped down as he got patted on the back by the other men, it felt weird being in an army with men. Now I know how it feels to be in a war away from loved ones, more like torture being away from the opposite sex.

After a long day of hunting and killing I was covered in dirt , sweat, and blood. I sighed and took a towel from the first aid tent and walked into the forest with my weapon hoping no one would notice. I wandered the forest until I found a large open space with a lonely tree. It was so beautiful, it was a sphere spring, the tree was surrounded by water, an endless lake bottom. Though it was lit up by rocks that glowed on the bottom. I quickly undressed and walked into the water as I sighed. It was warm but refreshing. I pulled my ponytail out as I dunked my head underwater. When I surfaced I heard the laughing of men as my heart started to pound a million beats a second. I quickly swam underwater and went over to a rock and ducked my head, the water in the springs allowed people to breathe underwater. I hoped they didn't see me. Peeking over the rock I was hidden behind to see if they went away they started to strip nude as my face turned beat red and I hid back behind the rock with my eyes locked shut. Please don't find me! I recognized one of the men's voices, it was Kai! I was so screwed as I prayed to god they didn't find me. He got in the water as the men started talking about themselves and women. I rolled my eyes as I looked over and blushed a deep red as Kai was staring right at me. "Hey Reks!" He smiled big as I swam back keeping only my head out of the water as I found a lily pad and hid behind it. "Oh hey, I didn't know you were here." I said in my manly voice. "I was just about to leave."
"Don't be ashamed of yourself Reks!" He laughed and motioned the other guys over as my heart raced, I was screwed. "Look! A Shiva!" They all looked over expecting a naked woman as I quickly swam under the water past them. I got to shore without being seen as I picked up my towel and wrapped it around me and grabbed my clothes that I didn't get the chance to wash. When I got my clothes back on I walked back to the camp noticing that it looked like a tornado went through. I ran to the officer, he was on the ground injured. "Are you alright sir?!" I said holding him up. "Tuors." He growled and I noticed a Tuor officer walked up to me with his gun at me. "Step aside before I blast you mongrels heads off." I stood up ready to reach for my gunblade as the officer shot at the injured officer on the ground. I stared in fear then in anger as this was the exact thing that happened with my brother. I growled and pulled my gunblade out swinging at the officer as he jumped back and I jumped forward slashing the gun out of this hand and pointing the blade at his neck. "Go tell the Tuor empire that they better fear us." He stared at me in fear as the men at the spring ran up and held their weapons ready. The officer nodded and ran as I put my blade down. It felt like I should've killed him. "Why did you let him go?!" A man shouted. "Because we are better then them!" I turned around after hearing Kai speak. "Don't you see what they've done to us!? This has gone on for far too long! I'm ready to kill those Tuor bastards! Who's with us?!" The other men looked at eachother then nodded. "Lets drive these bastards out of our empire." One of them spoke. I smiled knowing that this will be the Pearl's time to crush the Shark.
