The hall was filled with four neat rows of shinigami, captains and lieutenants, new and old, facing each other stoically as they awaited the one who had summoned them. The summons had not revealed the reason for this meeting, but it was quite possible that that had been because all of them already knew. The smallest problems could not be overlooked in times such as this. After all, Aizen’s defeat had only just been finalized. Several arrancar were still wreaking their havoc where they could, but most of these rogues were being handled by groups of seated officers. The captains and lieutenants had too many other things on their minds. Like paperwork, reconstruction, and pretending that everything was perfectly fine when they were in front of their divisions.
The truth of the matter was that Seireitei had been unstable ever since Aizen’s betrayal, and it was taking much longer to rebuild their former glory than it had taken to break it down. And for something of this magnitude to be reported when their work was still so far from completion… It had only been a matter of time before a meeting was called for.
At long last, the suffocating silence was permeated by the soft echo of footsteps. The large doorway opened wide, and Ukitake Juushirou entered. Yamamoto having passed on his position to his most responsible pupil, the headship of the Gotei Thirteen was now dutifully held by the former thirteenth captain. Once he had finally reached the end of the pathway, all eyes glued to the number one residing upon his backside, he turned to face them, his expression grim.
“I know how rare it is to hold joint meetings such as this, but it was necessary in order to effectively relay your newest orders to you all,” his voice rang out, determined to be heard as he carefully tried to choose words that sounded as professional and serious as Yamamoto’s had in the past. “As you all are aware, several disappearances of shinigami from all divisions, most from the Shinigami Academy itself, have been reported within the last month. The Second and Twelfth Divisions have been acting under orders to uncover what may be behind this, but so far no progress has been made. I cannot allow Seireitei to fall into panic; we are far too susceptible to disorder at present, and allowing paranoia seize our divisions would be disastrous for the reconstruction.
“Because we have no clues as to what the cause of these disappearances may be, I have no choice but to assume the worst. And as such, the fact that most of the disappearances have taken place within the Academy’s campus has led me to only one possible solution.” Ukitake paused to look out at the many faces before him, gauging the various expressions, before taking a deep breath.
“From now until an as of yet undetermined date, all captains and lieutenants shall replace the Shinigami Academy staff and watch over the students incognito!”
The large room echoed with his last proclamation before settling into utter and complete silence.
Ukitake grinned.
Oh, wonderful! They were so thrilled, they were speechless!

Soul Society:Though Soul Society is considered the afterlife, people are not immortal by any means, though aging is slowed to such an extent that lifespans of 2000 or more years are not unheard of. Such ages, however, are usually limited to shinigami or other Soul Society dwellers capable of manipulating spirit energy. Children can even be born as they are in the human world. People can also be killed as regular humans are, though they are capable of surviving wounds that would normally be considered fatal. A soul that dies in Soul Society is reincarnated on Earth as a new human with no past memories.
Rukongai: Rukonga:is the largest portion of Soul Society and the most populated. It is divided into 320 districts (80 in North Rukongai, 80 in West Rukongai, etc.), each numbered in descending order on how far they are from the center; this results in the higher-numerated (and farther) districts decaying into slums. Thus, while District 1 is peaceful and lawful, much like the antiseptic lifestyle of early-Edo era Kyoto, District 80 is a hardscrabble, violent, crime-infested area that more depicts Heian era Kyoto. There is no indication that the shinigami or any other agencies patrol the streets of Rukongai, and as a result, the citizenry are mainly responsible for their day-to-day welfare.
Seireitei sad lit. Court of Pure Souls), a walled castle where the spirit world nobility and the shinigami live. is in the center of Soul Society, a circular shiro with four main entrances, each guarded by a Gate Guardian. The walls are made of deathstone, a material known to sap all spiritual and psychic energy when one portion is faced in a particular direction, similar to magnetic lodestones. The deathstone also forms a spherical barrier around the city, preventing anyone from entering anywhere other than the four gates.
Shinigami Academy: were all students who wish to be Shinigami go to learn the basics and part take in class. Everyone from the lowest call to the noble attend to gain the skills needed to make it into one of the 13 Squads.
Living World:
Karakura Town (空座町 Karakura-chō) is a district of Tokyo. It borders Naruki City (Naruki-shi) on the west. Karakura Town has a radius of two and a half spirit miles known off.

Karakura High School is the local high school.
Karakura Hospital:
The Karakura Hospital is owned by Ryūken Ishida. In the anime, it is the battle ground between the protagonists of the series and the Bounts Hō and Ban. Underground, there is a special training area which Ryūken built to help his son Uryū regain his Quincy powers.
Kurosaki Family Clinic:
The Kurosaki Family Clinic is a clinic run by Isshin Kurosaki with some assistance from his daughters, Yuzu and Karin. It is also the home of the Kurosaki family. Sora Inoue, Orihime's brother, died of his injuries in this clinic. Yasutora Sado was also a patient, after being attacked by a hollow.
Mashiba Junior High School:
Mashiba Junior High School (Mashiba Chūgakkō) is the junior high school where Ichigo Kurosaki and Yasutora Sado came from. It is located in the Mashiba district.
Urahara Shop:
The Urahara Shop (Urahara shōten) is the candy store belonging to Kisuke Urahara. It also sells shinigami wares and serves as a paramilitary base for the protagonists of the series - some of them trained in it, while others were taken in for healing. It has a massive subterranean "study room" modeled after a similar location in Soul Society where Urahara and Yoruichi used to train. According to Kubo, the Urahara Shop sells a very rare candy, "Space Candy." He says, "From the name, it sounds like it'll have some strange taste, but inside is only a coca cola tasting candy."
Hollow:
Hueco Mundo:
is located between the human world and Soul Society, though it is separated from the bordering dimension known as the dangai. It can only be accessed by tearing the dimensional fabric separating the worlds, which allows hollows to travel to any other dimension at will.
Las Noches:
Consists of a main building with a domed center surrounded by several large towers and smaller buildings. Atop the dome are six smaller towers in which seem to contain areas or meeting rooms.
