I ran my second 5k last Saturday. It was pretty awesome, other than it being freaking hot. Michelle and I apparently don't run in the heat well, but we might have been fine if we had ran outside more; we only ran on treadmills inside with the A/C on. razz
My time was worse than last time--as was Michelle's--because we had to keep walking due to feeling sick. We drank lots of water to make sure we didn't get overheated, but we were still breathing pretty hard the whole 3.1 miles.
And at the end I puked. xd I didn't puke bad, it was mainly just all the water I had drank. My Crispix had already been digested, thank god.
I got kind of embarrassed that I had puked at the finish line, but Felicia (my running instructor) told me that it was fairly common; she puked after running her last marathon. She said it was due to being in anaerobic respiration for too long (woot we learned about that in Biology! ...And Ms. Gum is leaving...for a rich school...nooooo Ms. Gum come back! gonk ) which you first get a taste of through cramps, which steadily get worse. If you're in anaerobic respiration too long, something happens with your digestive system, I believe. I think it either slows down, or temporarily stops. When you finish the race and you start to catch your breath, your digestive system sends everything up out of you, and you puke.
Fun. xd
