Day
July 25: 18 year old Julie died in a car accident. January 17: Boy died in skating accident. Name is still unknown. August 19: 10 year old Anna was found dead. December 4: 16 year old Jacob died while driving home from a party.
Everyday our alarm clock blares in our ears. Everyday we get out of bed and slam our fist on the off button. Everyday we go to school. Everyday we come home and eat dinner. Everyday we hear the evening news. Like every other day it is full of tragedies. Until one day that tragedy is us. On that day our parents are crying during an interview. The next day our friends are quiet as rumors float around school. A few days later our body is lowered into the ground. On the day of our funeral people are crying all over again. But we don’t know this because we died days ago.
We planned on going to the movies with our best friend the next day. The next month we planned on getting the new book in our favorite series. And sometime in the near future we planned on getting that new iPod we were saving up for.
In the next few years an acquaintance will have their dream come true because we weren’t there to get the scholarship. In 20 years our future spouse will be alone with their dog because we weren’t were there to say hi in the grocery store. Worst part is we don’t care because we died years ago.
We died remembering yesterday living years ago and counting on tomorrow. We died complaining about our History test thinking we wouldn’t have enough time to study. We died fighting with our friend about something stupid. We died counting on tomorrow.
