Good Saturday evening all. biggrin
I am sitting here typing this full of some most delicious shortbread (yum, yum!) that I bought at today's Saint Andrew's Fair. The St. Andrew's Fair is a nice little celebration of Scottish culture that is held this time each year in Goshen, CT, which is about twenty minutes from me. It's nice for me 'cause I have some Scottish in me, and this year had special significance since my family plans a trip to Scotland next month. xd
I wore a scarf and tam (a little hat like a beret) in my clan tartan, and so did my mom. It was cold and cloudy, but we didn't let that stop us. What I like best about the fair is everybody brings their different breeds of Scottish dogs--Scottish terriers and West Highland Whites and Shetland Sheepdogs. While I was there I bought a Scotland t-shirt with some of those dogs on it, and a little hedgehog with bagpipes that I bought as a companion for a sheep that I bought there last year. heart heart There were bagpipe players and Scottish musicians everywhere, and I chowed down on some fish and chips and I tried a bridie, which is a pastry with meat and onions in it. They also had athletes competing in a sort of Highland games--the main event is the caber toss, where big strong men in kilts try to throw these giant tree trunks. eek Pretty impressive.
So all in all, it was a nice day out, and I'm already looking forward to next year. heart
