Any hoo~
The scoop. cool
Regarding SakuraCon 2008, which I know all the cool Seattlites went to; It was a blast! whee I (for once) went for the duration of the event (3 days), and about killed myself (many times) in the process. gonk
I saw The Slants as well as Ketchup Mania perform; my ears were too damaged to see the other two (wait a sec; EARS too damaged to SEE the other bands...?). sweatdrop However, The Slants were really good; Ketchup Mania sounded bad live. sad I could tell that the tweeters were peaking, 'cause they started making annoying popping noises during the songs. But mabey that's just me, 'cause I'm also the type of person who can't watch a movie without noticing where the effects or lighting got screwed up... sweatdrop
Unfortunately, I missed the cosplay contest, but good job to everyone who participated. 3nodding I did end up watching the Pokemon skit that involved the Lopunny and the ditto (which I laughed my arse off during, by the way) on YouTube 2 days later. It was rich, check it out.
Well, what else... Let's see. I got my arse pwnd multiple times by random people in the (modern console) gaming room... which was embarassing... sweatdrop I just about spent myself poor in the Dealer's Room... I danced (for real) at the All Anime Dance on Saturday (I love dancing, but school dances never cut it, mostly 'cause I know everyone...). Um, ALMOST participated in the Kingdom Hearts photoshoot in the courtyard on Saturday, but because I have no spine, I couldn't just thow myself into the mix. sweatdrop I did however, pose with a Halloween group consisting of Halloween Town Sora, Halloween Kairi, and Jack Skellington. I played in the "Spin the Bottle: Glomp Style" game on Saturday and Sunday, though the only productive session was Sunday... biggrin Started about 4 Marco Polo "disturbances", as I like to call them, took a whole bunch of pictures, got my picture taken a whole bunch, and got TONS of glomps.
Ah, you ask; when do we get to hear about the good stuff? scream
Wait no longer, kinder. Here's the good (if not funny) stuff.
Did you know you can actually trip on a smooth surface? I know. I didn't think so either. Until I almost died tripping a grand total of 12 times on a polished floor. Not counting the escalator incidents...
If you ever feel like you're not getting enough attention, pin a "GLOMP ME" sign to your back. It does wonders, as demonstrated by my cousin. 72 glomps in 4 hours. Scary, huh?
(This wasn't at the convention center, but it was on Friday.) My mom and I both got (politely) kicked out of Gameworks 'cause it was after curfew, and I tride to make up an excuse about why I didn't have my ID with me, even though I'm too young to have one anyway... xd (which, after leaving, I couldn't stop laughing about... xp )
I got attacked by a (rabid) Neji Hyuuga fangirl on Sunday. And her little friend (Namine). (That's what I get for attempting to pull the "stoic, brooding, pretty boy" act... sweatdrop ) She was dressed as Naruto, and was actually fun to be around, so I let her hang off me all afternoon. (funny thing is, we're really good friends now, and communicate by email. That's what I call a chance encounter... xp ) And it's funny now, but wasn't too great at the time, but on Sunday during the Spin the Bottle game outside, she insisted on linking arms with me, and running out with me when I spun the bottle, and glomping people at the same time. While we were half way into the circle, someone yelled, "Hey look! It's Neji and Naruto; that's the best pairing I've seen all day!". I would've given whoever that was The Bird, had my mom not walked up at that moment. twisted
Anyone see the giant Deathnote walking around? He/She is my new best friend. Seriously; it was a great idea. I signed it with my own name saying, "Alex ____: dies after tripping on escalator". My favorite was, "Brittany Spears: dies after choking on a cigarette". I looked at that one like, 'Wow, um, I didn't know she smoked...?' gonk Now that I think about it, I should've written one about George Bush... Darn.
Oh yeah; after the All Anime Dance on Saturday, Mom and I sat in the lounge area near the DDR and Rock Band sessions to eat. Since there weren't any chairs, we just sat on the floor next to a pillar. Well, this chick and her friend walk up. The girl, standing on the other side of the pillar (so therefore not realizing we were there), says to her friend (rather loudly), "I'm gonna stand here for a sec while I pull my underwear out of my butt...". gonk Needless to say, I sprayed Pepsi all over the carpet.
What was really great was the fact that AFTER getting kicked out of Gameworks on Friday, Mom and I are walking back to the hotel (Paramont), and we see the tell tale flashing lights of a fire truck. We're in Seattle. I wasn't surprised. Well, we get into view of our hotel, and the trucks (2 of 'em) are parked out front. eek 'The 'eff?', I thought. Once inside the lobby, I see fire alarms flashing wahmbulance , staff people talking on radios, firemen in full gear going in and out of the building, and the lobby full of Con-goers like me, stranded 'cause the elavators were shut off. 'Course, I didn't know they were off 'till I walked right up to one and wacked the button a couple times. gonk Apparently, sprinklers went off on one of the floors after someone pulled the alarm, so the water leaked into the cafe, causing problems on the way down. About 45 minutes after Mom and I arrived, they turned the elevators back on. By then, it was almost 12:00 AM. gonk
Well, that was a lot of typing, and reading, but I appreciate those of you who read it! 3nodding I like writing about my convention experiences, but they sorta take up a lot of space... sweatdrop Thank you again, and stay tuned for more ramblings brought to you by DjDs!!! mrgreen
