NINA

Race/Ethnicity: Robot
Hair: None
Eye colour: Light grey/blue
Clothing Style: Usually none. She enjoys playing dress-up sometimes, with fluffy, girly type skirts. She usually doesn't wear tops, since they are more likely to get caught in her joints.
Likes: Kittens, opera, ironing
Dislikes: Static, angry people, soap
Nina is like a gentle ten-year old. Although she was pre-built with some intrinsic knowledge of the world(in order to be functional out of the box), she still doesn't understand many organic things, like emotions, or animals. She is fascinated by the arts, particularly that of painting, and singing. Nina would love to own a kitten, but all she knows of them is what she's seen in Youtube videos, so it wouldn't be best for her to own one.
She's usually on her own, but when she has the opportunity to interact with other people, she's optimistic, and gentle. She assumes that people are overall as open and kind hearted as she is, and interacts with them that way. When people are rude or harsh, she is often confused or distressed.

TIKI
She's so silly. But don't tell her we said that.
Name: Tiki
Age: 6 years (human equivalent to 21)
Build: 3'6", and scrawny! Almost no chest at all.
Race/Ethnicity: Tapoi (cat person)
Hair: Orange and frayed. Tiki's hair is just something that is on her head and has to be kept out of the way of fire - and as such, she takes very little care of it. It's almost always braided back - occasionally in a bun or other up-do if someone else gets to it. It doesn't get cut, it gets burnt off by almost constant explosions or fires - the bangs aren't intentional so much as scarred into being. Not that Tiki even notices.
Eye colour: Amber, with catlike pupils.
Clothing Style: Strictly functional. She wears clothing which a blacksmith might wear - when she can find it. Due to her diminutive size, she often accepts wearing trousers intended for children, torn off at the knee to allow for her joint structure. Shirts, gloves and belts, she is forced to get from a tailor.
Likes: Fruit, shiny things, inventions
Dislikes: People who lord over her height(ie, anyone taller than her), horses, eggs
Overall appearance: Tiki has short, light brown fur all over her body - it is short enough that at a casual glance, it's not much different than skin. It thickens a bit at her elbows, knees and ankles, adding slight tufts. She has cat ears, and a tail, with tri-segmented legs. She often wears her feet bare, though will occasionally force her feet into boots if she's working on a dangerous project.
She has stripes down her spine and on her tail, as well as on her arms. There are three stripes on each side of her jaw, as well as two on the bridge of her nose. Her ears are also striped, with tufts of brownish fur on the ends.
Tiki is a tinker - an inventor of the combat variety. She puts together such things as weighted nets, gas bombs, burrowing knives(not pretty), and other such traps. But not always successfully. Very often her workshop is exploding, falling apart, or being evacuated for overgrown dung beetle related emergencies.
Her failures are not necessarily due to incompetence so much as oversight. Once she has seen what has gone wrong, she is quick to correct it - and more likely than not, blunder into another building flaw. When she finally ends up with a working prototype, it is highly successful, and terribly dangerous.
Tiki is eccentric, and highly tempermental. Think of it as a "big dog" syndrome. This inability to NOT be doing something, combined with having more energy than can possibly fit in a body her size, often leads to disaster of the most entertaining kind. She is confident, and always expects her plans to work out flawlessly, convinced that the latest mishap was a fluke, rather than a reoccurring pattern.

LIZ
What a strange girl.
Name: Liz (short for Lizard)
Age: 10 years
Build: 4'2", average build.
Race/Ethnicity: Shapeshifter (human/elvish appearance)
Hair: Super-pale grey(almost white), scruffy. Her hair is cut short, and tends to go every-which-way due to a natural wave.
Eye colour: Light grey.Her pupils tend to be smaller than normal, giving her a slightly spooky stare.
Clothing Style: Practical, minimalist. Liz fends for herself, and can't afford much, so usually wears a simple tunic, leggings, and boots. It's not uncommon for her to buy tunics which are too large for her, and have them belted at the waist.
Likes: Exploring, animals, music and dance
Dislikes: Fire, cruelty, being mistaken for an elf
Overall appearance: Liz looks very much like a half-elf, but will protest loudly if you call her one. She has large eyes, and doesn't tend to blink often. This, coupled with her smaller-than-average pupils, give her a somewhat spooky, owl-like look. Otherwise, she's a cute child, with pouty lips and a button-nose. She has dainty hands and feet. Her scruffy hair looks perpetually tousled, adding to her charm.
Liz is a shapeshifter - the first form she was able to master was a lizard, which she was named for(in tradition of her clan). At her Independence Ceremony, she learned the form of a golden finch. Later still, she learned the forms of a dragonhawk(a hawk-sized wyvern with decorative feathers), and an owlbear. She is beginning to get creative with her shifting, learning how to change the size of a final form(she has mastered a giant lizard, about bear-sized), or how to maintain a shape, mid-transformation. She's used this half-transform a few times as trickery(illness from scaly skin), or as intimidation(growing the feathers and claws of an owlbear). At one point, she served as a model for an artist by half-transforming into a finch, becoming a winged girl. This one was harder than most morphs, as it was adding extra appendages, and had many failed and terrifying attempts.
Liz makes her way in life by being a bard, and preforming at inns. She sings, dances, and plays the flute, or lute, when one is available. She has become proficient at carving her own rather primitive flutes or pipes, but these tend to get broken fairly quickly. Decent skills and adorable charm usually get her enough for a meal and a room for the night, so she rarely has extra coins on her to buy new clothes or better quality instruments.

HAKU
The boy with the hat.
Name: Haku
Age: 18 years
Build: 5'10", slim but athletic.
Race/Ethnicity: Japanese (also a demon.)
Hair: Black, long in the front and short in the back. His bangs cover where normal people ears go.
Eye colour: Dark brown, almost black.
Clothing Style: Snappy. Haku likes looking good. He prefers dressy clothing, with a slight edge, sort of a watered-down Visual Kei style. Plenty of accessories, dress shoes are a plus. When out in public, he wears his fluffy russian-style hat with earflaps, to cover his ears. He is NEVER seen in a t-shirt.
Likes: Writing, quiet, music.
Dislikes: Animals, pushy people, heat.
Overall appearance: Straight and sober. Haku is fairly serious, and his posture screams of it. He's always well dressed(even his pajamas), simply because he likes the look of it. Everything about him seems long and thin, but there is muscle packed on underneath - partly because he believes that exercise is important, and partly due to natural demonic build.
The reason he always wears his russian hat is because of his demon lineage - he has large, black bat ears, the same colour as his hair. The hat covers them, so that people in public don't see them. He complains about the hat, since it's often too hot, muffles his hearing, doesn't match with many of his clothes, and hurts his ears to fold into.
His ears are a large source of stress in his life - they are why he's withdrawn, stuffy, and why he doesn't like crowds of people. He's constantly aware of how easy it would be to be outed. Though most demons can master some illusions in order to hide their ears, Haku is only a teenager, and hasn't mastered it yet. He spends a lot of his personal time practicing these techniques, with little success(much to his frustration).
When he doesn't have to wear his hat, Haku is much more expressive and engaged. He feels more free to be 'himself', but this is sadly only to a few people, including his family, who live abroad, and eventually to Marcy. He's afraid of letting anyone else know for fear of being ostracized.
Haku enjoys writing, and goes to a High School for gifted students, where he is encouraged to write every day. He gets paired up with Marcy, Bianca, and Jim in the semester's project to put on a school musical, from start to finish. He spends most of his time, writing lyrics to songs written by Marcy, but also spends a fair amount of time with Bianca and Jim, who design sets and costumes, respectively.

MARCY
Strange times ahead...
Name: Marcy
Age: 18 years
Build: 5'5", average build.
Race/Ethnicity: Caucasian
Hair: Natural blonde. It's a few inches longer than shoulder-length, but it's rarely worn down. Most often it's in a ponyail which is clipped up, which leaves long, wispy bangs framing her face.
Eye colour: Blue.
Clothing Style: Casual, but clean looking. She favours long-sleeve or three-quarter shirts, with V neck or boat-neck cuts. Dress pants or skirts are common. She will occasionally wear a sun-dress, weather permitting. Her general rule is that if it's not something she'd want her grandparents to see her in, it's not her style.
Likes: Music, movies, Percival
Dislikes: Paranormal things, wannabes, decisions
Overall appearance: Marcy may be dressed well, but it's the little things that point out her sloppiness. Her hair is sort of thrown-together - she puts it in a ponytail because it's easier that way. She tends to slouch, unless she's playing an instrument, where years of training takes over. Her nails aren't well taken care of, and are often chewed off.
Marcy is well-composed on the outside, but is a bit of a mess on the inside. This applies to almost all parts of her life - her appearance, her bedroom, and her family life. She is an only-child being raised by her workaholic mother. Her father left the family only a few years ago after he was found cheating - Marcy's mother handles it by throwing herself into her work as a lawyer, and Marcy follows suit in her school life.
Marcy, with her father suddenly gone, and her mother emotionally absent, dotes on her fat persian cat, Percival (or Percy, if she's baby-talking him, which she tends to do). Percival loves the attention, and will wait for Marcy to get home from school. When she's home, Percival is always at her heel, joining in conversation with well-timed meows, or investigating whatever she might be eating or cooking.
Marcy plays the flute, violin, and piano, and is learning to play the cello. She loves music, dissects it, studies it, and then writes her own songs. Marcy has roots in classical training, and when she composes a song, it is also in a classical style, rather than pop or rock.
When she first meets Haku, she's suspicious of his guarded nature. Much to his alarm and confusion, she flat out accuses him of being a demon - a habit she picked up from her evangelical preacher of a father when she was a child. She is absolutely certain that there's something wrong about him, and harbors a great mistrust. (think like a calmer version of Dib from Invader Zim.)
When it is finally revealed that he is a demon, but that it doesn't make him any different than any other 18-year-old, Marcy calms down. She becomes more reasonable, and once seeing what he has to deal with on a daily basis, is more understanding and caring. She keeps his secret, and visits him often, to let him have time with people, but without his hat. This brings them closer together, and they eventually become a couple.

Build: 5'4", curvy. Frankly overweight, but she carries it well.
Race/Ethnicity: Hispanic
Hair: Dark brown, cut short.
Eye colour: Brown
Clothing Style: Bianca wears fashionable clothing, the latest trends. She tends towards clothing that amplifies her already generous chest, and skirts to hide her thighs. When she wears jeans, they're usually embroidered with a design to take the eye away from the overall girth of her legs. She has glasses that are somewhere between horn-rimmed and cat's eye rims.
Likes: Gadgets, chick-flicks, brownie-batter ice cream
Dislikes: Insubordination, new-fangled technology, cell phones
Overall Appearance: Bianca is full-figured, and not at all ashamed about it. She wears clothes to accentuate what she has, rather than try to hide the things that she might be lacking. Her hairstyle is artistically fly-away - she works hard to make it look careless.
Bianca has full lips and a round nose, matching well with her rounded face. She stubbornly insists that she'd "look terrible as a skinny chick", and she's probably right.
Marcy and Bianca have been friends since middle-school. While Marcy is quieter, and more indecisive, Bianca fills that gap by being loud and in charge. But Bianca isn't just loud-mouthed to be in charge, she understands the dynamics of her friends, and knows to make decisions that they would want to make, if they knew they wanted them.
Bianca can be a bit bossy, but only because she knows that her advice is good - this makes her a natural leader. She is very self-empowered and self-confident, due to the immense encouragement from her parents.
The only time Bianca clams up is if there's something that she wants, but doesn't know if she can have. She has a huge crush on Jim, but is too worried about the consequences of failure to ask him about it. Instead, she has a front of being 'one of the guys' with Jim, with playful punches and wisecracking whenever possible.

Build: 6'1" and still growing, rather gangly.
Race/Ethnicity: Caucasian
Hair: Random colours - he dyes it bright shades in various combinations at random times. He's known to do stripes, spots, tiger-striping, or just plain solids. He's most often seen with blue or green hair, but other colours aren't uncommon either. Hair is untidy, somewhere between wavy and curly. He sports handsome sideburns, and a goatee(also dyed to match the colour of the day).
Eye colour: Hazel
Clothing Style: Super-casual. Jim is a t-shirt kinda guy, usually with a bold icon on the front. He feels uncomfortable wearing anything other than jeans and a t-shirt, in fact. Ties are the devil.
Likes: Relaxing, fashion design, Bianca
Dislikes: Arguments, mornings, mechanical pencils
Overall Appearance: Jim is like a gangly hippy. He has a perpetual slouch, halfway because it's less effort than standing straight, and halfway so that he doesn't loom over people so much. He's most often seen with a quiet half-smile, and half-lidded eyes. He's almost always got a sketchbook on him, for the sake of jotting down clothing designs as soon as they come to mind.
Jim interacts with everyone the same way - with a relaxed, peace-keeping vibe. He's very agreeable - even when he disagrees, it's with the utmost respect, and most people walk away feeling as though it were their idea all along. Jim is okay with that.
Jim is well aware that Bianca has feelings for him, and feels quite the same way about her. He doesn't act on them, but thinks it better to let her make the first move, to spare her pride. He is subtly more affectionate to her than he is with anyone else, trying to give her enough courage to step forward.

Overall Appearance: Percy is a strange kind of persian, with large eyes and dainty paws. His nose is straighter than the stereotypical persian, having a face structure more like this, rather than the crumpled nose mostly thought of.
Percy is FREAKED OUT by Haku. He knows something isn't right, and will bristle up. He's too much of a coward to hiss or claw, so he just stands rigid and stares, like a pom-pom with a face.
