An Eternal Empire - Main Plot?

"The humans push forward with The Great Purge of Magick, eliminating all magickal creatures capable of tapping into the energies of the land. They come upon the dwarven race of the mountains, magick-incapable beings, and are persuaded to ally with the dwarves during the human conquest, as the dwarves are weapons specialists. Under the new allegiance, a new formidable weapon is developed to assist in the genocide against magick folk. The resulting creation is a device capable of draining magick from the planet and those who possess it, and with this raw energy source, the humans and dwarves are able to channel the energy into a physical manifestation: a disfigured, mindless drone willing to serve the commands of their masters – a perfect army. These creatures have brutish strength, lack any empathy, emotion, or feeling, and are able to neutralize magick around them just by being present. Although the army is small and a large amount of extracted magick is needed to create one, a single drone is capable of taking out dozens of combatants in a battle. With this newfound technology, the magickal creatures of the world are finding little hope of surviving in Eternus."

Restoring the Dryads

"The burning of the Forest of Faeon was tragic for many creatures, but it was only the first of many burnings and raidings across the land of Eternus. If a forest still stands, the Empire just hasn't reached it yet. Many races and creatures were killed off during these burnings, one such creature was wiped out of Eternus almost entirely, the spirits of nature, the dryads. If magick folk ever hope to restore the scorched lands of Eternus once again, these beings are necessary. One would have to travel to the world's eldest tree and gather its seeds to restore the dryads, but only if the Empire doesn't reach the tree first."

The Ritual

"Necromancers gather in the depths of the Feigning Bog, hidden amongst the ruins of Necropolis. They are evil creatures bent on using ancient, barbaric forms of magick further their desires. These beings perform dark, sadistic rituals to gain their powers, not true magick, but the powers blessed unto them by their gods.

They kidnap unwilling persons, targeting mostly infants and children, and whisk them away to their temples in the mists. There, the individual is stripped of all belongings and spread across cold stone with their hands and feet to be anchored at the corners. First, they are administered a sinister injection, a drug created by the various foliage of the bog, that induces a particular type of paralysis that disables the body of movement but allows the prickle of pain to seep through while keeping the heart alive. Then, they are ever-so-gently plucked apart piece by piece, starting with their nails, teeth, and even the genitalia. The only thing left on the outside of the body is the eyes, so they can witness the events of their dismemberment. Then the Necromancers continue with a deep incision across the belly and chest; the organs are removed and laid out upon the altar. Finally, the still-beating heart is lifted from the chest cavity so the victim may lay eyes upon it. The organ is then devoured by the members of the cult, and if the gods are appeased by their offering, they are granted the dark powers they worked so hard to extract: control of the dead and extended life. The existence of the victim is then ended, only to be risen as a mindless creature that shall do any bidding that comes from those who consumed him.

Once members of the common races of the world, they are no longer recognizable as man or woman, just a mere reflection of what they once were. The remains of their skin tightly wrap around their bones. Their image is ghostly and often transparent; a dark mist cloaks them as they move and float along. They barely hold on to this world as their life has long since passed its expiration; and they forever seek to fuel their longevity. They are the true depiction of nightmares. These beasts are a plague to the world and are beyond unnatural.

Those who inhabit the deepest layers of Feigning Bog live in constant fear as members of their villages disappear from their homes during the night. They have cried out to the Empire for help but are insensitively ignored as their numbers dwindle. They hope for someone to end the hell that the Necromancers bring to their lives, but none wish to risk their lives on such a futile adventure."

Races

Humans:
Bio: The most common of species populating the world and one of the few non-magick races, these creatures live their lives in urban civilizations with a strong focus on innovative technologies rather than the use of magick. They specialize in unique and advanced weapon development. Humans can be kind, valiant, and strong hearted, just as much as they can be cruel, dishonorable, and stubborn. Their Empire governs the world of Eternus with humans at the helm since its beginning. Without the aid of magick, everything they do takes a large amount of dedication, which they usually follow through with. Their most recent creation is a new type of ammunition for the crossbow: exploding arrows.

General Appearance: Generally speaking, male humans have broad, solid faces, while females have softer, less masculine features. The males noses and ears are larger, while the women's eyes tend to be bigger than their opposing sex. On average, males grow to be between 5.5 feet to 6.5 feet, while the women roughly a foot shorter. There aren't many characteristics that haven't been shared by both sexes at one point or another, however. Their hair can range from short to long, straight to curly, and dark to light. Vivid colors aren't very common, as most humans hair color ranges from blacks and browns to blondes and whites. The eyes of a human are commonly colored with blues, greens, browns, blacks, and grays. The most distinct thing about a human the fact that they are so plain, so simple. There isn't anything that makes them stand out or different when compared to other races, except for the fact that they lack any what they refer to as abnormalities.

Faeries:
Bio: Faeries are the horned, winged, magick-capable wild-lings that take shelter in the most natural, beautiful lands of the world. They are wild beings who adore nature to the extent of living their lives in it; they have strong feelings againtst urbanization and that it is a detriment to the planet’s health. They are talented with the natural ability of using magick, unlike others who must learn to use magick, elves being a prime example. Faeries synchronize the energies of their body with that of the planet in order to extract and control their magick. There are two restrictions to the usage of it, however. A faerie is born with the powers they possess, and those powers begin to manifest in the early years of adolescence. At first, the magick is sudden and uncontrollable, so it becomes necessary for the child to learn their abilities both in understanding and in functionality. The first restriction is that they have no choice in the powers they have; the magick a faerie possesses is random and predetermined. Secondly, using too much magick without recharging through meditation will drain them of their life energy and greatly exhaust the body. Exhaustion over takes the soul and the perception of color bleeds from their vision until only blackness remains.

General Appearance: Faerie folk are often gentle in the face, retaining a strong sense of their youthfulness throughout their entire lives. They generally have high cheek bones, large eyes, long pointed ears, and a wild mess of stylized hair. Faeries are almost always slender, on account of being so active in the wilds, and flexible. You won’t see a faerie much taller than six feet, and even growing that tall is a rare occasion. Their eyes are almost always large and illuminating with their life-energy. All the colors found in the spectrum of light have been possessed by a faerie’s eyes, but the strength of their glow is dependent on the faerie’s mood. Their hair is often wild, only styled neatly if the faerie so wishes, and ranges from the darkest earthy tones to the brightest pastels. A faerie always has at least a single pair of horns that vary in size, shape, and location. They also possess two very large feathered wings that vary in color, usually matching their hair. When a faerie begins adolescence, the wings start to crown from behind the skin on their backs. After the crowning starts, usually within a couple weeks, they sprout out from the small tufts of feathers and fill out to their full size almost immediately. The process is excruciatingly painful and often gory, but it marks the beginning of the child’s progression to maturity, that and the discovering of his magick abilities. The nails on their hands and feet are usually left to grow and become sharpened, especially by those who enjoy fighting without weapons. But there are those who choose to keep their nails cleaned and trimmed when living more peaceful lifestyles. Normally, a faerie would not grow a tail, but an odd occurrence occasionally happens when such a child is born into family where one of its two parents is not a Faerie. What results is a scaled tail that hooks at the end, and also having scaled hands and feet. This doesn’t always happen, as the many features of a faerie are often extremely varied, but it’s usually seen as unfortunate because other races would often refer to these beast children as demons.

Mareviri:
Bio: The inhabitants of the sea, these humanoid’s live peacefully within their water kingdoms deep below the ocean’s surface. They are an intelligent race that possesses the ability to telecommunicate with each other and other races. When the necessity befalls them to venture onto land, which is very seldom, they are able to shift their dolphin-like tails into a pair of finned legs with flipper feet that allow them to traverse just like any bipedal creature. They breathe under water and also have a pair of small lungs to use when they come to shore, but the lungs aren’t big enough for extended exposure to the surface without a large amount of training. They are magick capable and can use the water as a weapon, but only while in the sea.

General Appearance: They are very humanoid in appearance with their upper torso, head, and arms, except that they are covered in scales of all colors, usually in two-tone color schemes. Their bottom half is a fish-like tail, ranging from a wide variety of shapes stemming from different kinds of fish breeds. Their arms, tail, and back are lined with fins to help control their mobility while swimming. They do not possess any hair, instead they have a varying style of fins, spines, and tentacles sprouting from their head. Their eyes are solid colors that are similar to gems and usually are greatly contrasting to their scale color.

Beasts

Barghests:
A monstrous black wolf with large teeth and sharp claw, it’s most often found skulking in forests or swamps for food. They are extremely quick, but have very little tact. They commonly charge their prey and use intimidation to paralyze them in fear, giving it an opportune chance to attack.

RP NPC: Fendel The Hallowed
_
_

Physical Description

Name:
Fendall Rilacke

Age, Height, Weight, and Body Type:
He has lived for 38 years, towers over the average person at 6' 9", and weighs a solid 220 pounds. Fendall is essentially a giant. He is built solid and can punch a hole in almost anything.

Bloodline:
Fendel hails from a long line of knightly humans who have served Eternus for generations. His family has always been proud warriors, firmly believing that the might behind a sword was stronger than any other force, even the power of magick.

Distinct Features:
He is tall, thick, and strong. His muscles are extremely well defined, as he spends much of his time practicing with his fellow knights.

His jawline is sharp and square; his brow is furrowed and heavy. His chin is wide and flat. He often looks like he is angry or stern, but it's just his general typical look.

He has short, black hair that spikes back and upwards. Some of his hairs have begun to gray with age, or with stress.

Fendel has a pair of narrow, yellow-green eyes that are small in the iris and are often strained open, to the point of physically reflecting his crazed demeanor.

His nose is decently large and crooked, and looks like he took a solid punch to the face one too many times.

A small scar falls vertically over his right eye, which he claims was a mere practicing accident and a simple oversight, though it remains to be seen if that is the true cause. he would never admit to taking a hit in an actual battle.

Clothing:
His armor is his most prominent feature. He bears a thick, heavy plate mail that leaves no open spaces for any weapon to penetrate its defenses. The armor is plated white-silver and is trimmed with a gold lining. On the chest plate is the symbol of Eternus, two infinity symbols that are overlapped at an offset horizontal to each other. He is always in his armor, whether practicing, in battle, or at a formal party. Each step he takes while wearing it literally makes the ground shake, and of course gives him the impression that he's the one in power.

Weapons:
Fendel wields a very large b*****d sword, one so heavy that it's weight alone can pin a large animal underneath it. Cleaving a horse in two was a gruesome feat he accomplished with own hands in just a single swing of his sword. It is always mounted on his back.

He is a deadly shot with a crossbow.

Magicks:
Humans cannot wield magick.

Personality

Traits:
He is extremely egotistical. To him, nothing is better or more fortunate than himself, being a far superior human.

He looks down on almost everyone, secretly even the Emperor himself. He feels that no one ever could meet his standards, no one but him.

He's almost always frustrated. Almost nothing goes the way he wants it too, unless he's slaughtering something.

His jealousy runs deep for those who receive admiration for their duty to the Emperor. No matter how hard he tries, albeit poorly, he feels that he's never recognized for his accomplishments. The problem is that the things he does that he wishes were recognized as great accomplishments are really just cruelties and torment laden actions against those around him. He jealousy runs heavy with Felix Vanitas, as he's always managed to receive the better side of the Emperor.

Talents:
Even though his has a very large blade, he is very quick with the weapon in combat. His head-count towers over most of his fellow kinsmen, counting monster, human, and magick-folk kills. Although his attitude remains to be questionable, no one can deny his skill with his weapon.

Gathering information through any means necessary is a skill he improved on during his time as an interrogator. Besides his shear size being an encouraging factor for spitting out information, he can simply look at a person just the right way to hint that he's ripped people in half bigger than you.

He has admirable skills in all forms of hunting and tracking, whether it be beast or man. As with his other skills, he has a keen perception when investigating something for clues or hints as to what happened. When paired with all his other skills, he can find almost anything he's looking for with ease. He's a deadly hunter.

Likes:
He enjoys killing and winning more than anything else. Destruction literally lights up his eyes. Of course, he does have a sense of protection for his human race, but in the end, he would let any number of people die to get what he wants.

Formerly: Felix' wife.

Dislikes:
Magick folk.

Felix Vanitas.

Losing at anything, be it games or competition, or something he created in his own mind.

Being proven wrong.

Fears:
Being overpowered and being able to do nothing about it.

On a certain level, Felix Vanitas, for he fears that if he ever loses to Felix, his image becomes tarnished.

History

Most Significant Memory:
The day he confessed his love to the now wife of Felix, she sorely shut him down. She had no desire to be with him, as she had strong feelings for Felix and the love that he had to provide. Fendel had nothing to give her that she didn't already have. From that point on, he developed a sour hatred for all magick folk, even more-so than he already had. He falsely accusing them of evil in their souls and that magick would be the death of the Empire, all because of his jealousy for Felix. Unfortunately, this constant accusation would assist the Emperor's decision to commence The Great Purge of Magick, since it was magick that had overtaken his mind and allowed another to manipulate him.

General History:
After the manipulator of the Emperor had a firm grasp over the rule of the Empire, Fendel fled the capital when he heard that the human families in the palace were being killed. He later regrouped with a few of his troops and began to formulate a reason for the Emperor's treachery against his own kind. After some time went by, and a good amount of spy work, Fendel was able to reach the conclusion that it wasn't the Emperor's doing, and that his friend was the more likely of causes. While this was correct, the assumption originally spawned out of spite that the friend of the Emperor was of magick descent, and he had a cruel hatred for the magick folk.

Fendel and a few other significant members of the Empire decided to form a guild, an army against the Emperor's attendant, Legion of Empyrean, Knights of the Heavens. This rogue army would be the downfall of the Emperor's manipulator, and the rise of Fendel's recognition as a hero to humanity and the Empire.

He now leads the armies of the Emperor in an all-out assault against the magick-folk of the world as their highest in command. He actively seeks out the two children of the Vanitas family in hopes to squash the remaining members of Felix' lineage and to drain out the impure blood that mixes within them.

RP History: The Burning of Faeon
_
_
The Beginning of a New Age

"Bordering the capital of the Empire, The City of Eons, was a dense forest known as Faeon Wood. The forest was home to many living critters and beings, housing both peaceful and violent sorts. Among its many denizens were the mythical faerie folk. Once thought to be just a legend even to the vast knowledge of the elves, the faerie folk of Faeon had served the Empire not only as guardians against outside aggression but had also shared a strong trading ecosystem that was beneficial for both parties. Since it was their home, the faerie folk could travel the woods with ease and avoid ever getting lost, but for an adventurer, as seasoned as he may be, would not find his way through the forest even if he had walked in a straight line for an eternity. The hungering beasts that inhabited the woods made the forest just as dangerous during the day as it was in the darkest nights. These woods were well known for swallowing unwary adventurers’ whole, beckoning them into its false and twisting paths that disorient and confuse, only to spit them out and leave them wandering hopelessly lost until starvation would set in and take its claim. With the partnership between the two realms of man and faerie, travelers could be safely led through the woods without worry of joining the eerie chants emanating from deep within the thickets that forever cry for help. This mutual alliance had lasted for many years, and the foreseeable future had not any plans for this relationship to wither… until The Great Purge of Magick was set in motion.

The sun had reached its highest point, yet no light was shining down from the great blue above. The skies were black with smoke and soot. A sea of fire clawed up towards the heavens as the woods of Faeon were devoured within its flames. The Empire had begun its genocidal march against all magick folk and it started with the very woods surrounding it. The armies of the Emperor, the newly knighted members of Legion, marched through the remains of the scorched woods, following the path of the burning flames and slaughtering anything that hoped to escape towards Eons. One particular high ranking officer of the Emperor’s army and a founding member of Legion took extra care to make sure his kill count towered above the rest of his kinsmen. It was a self-imposed mission that he had no intention on failing, for he had never once failed a mission assigned to him. Fendrel the Hallowed pressed through the oncoming hail of ash that sprouted across the burning treetops. Barghests whimpered as they limped from the woods ablaze, but Fendrel helped relieve them from their misery with a swift swing at the neck. Families of Satyrs huddled together with their weeping children as members of Legion surrounded them, standing no match against the sheer number of warriors that had enveloped them into such a small confined area. The burnt wood underneath their feet was flooded with the blood of the beasts. First were their children, so that the parents could witness the lack of empathy the members of Legion showed. It was Fendrel who would draw the first blood. He wanted these vermin to know who was in charge. For every few dozen they would kill, they left one run back into the burning wood, either to feed the burning flames so that they could envelope the entirety of the woods, or they were giving it a mission, a mission to warn the rest of the world that Legion was coming, that they were taking back their Empire and cleansing it of all magick.

Finally, at the last standing ring of forest that had yet to burn, Fendel and his army had pushed the faerie folk to their final defenses. They had gathered up their children and ran for the outer edge of the forest, still withholding hope that they wouldn’t have to leave their home. But the flames burned fast, and the armies of the Empire followed just as quickly. Fendel stepped up and demanded the leader of the faerie folk to step forward. Traditionally, there is no leader of faerie clans, they simply live amongst each other as equals and share the responsibilities that are at hand. No person is more or less important than another, and it was a system that had worked for centuries. When Fendel was told this, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of disappointment. That was one less head count for his grand total. He and his armies stepped forward, slowly cornering the magick folk just as he had done with so many of the beasts before. He spoke out to them, reading them the new law of the Emperor, preaching to them that they were no longer recognized as citizens of Eternus and that magick was forbidden. They scowled at the man as he listed their absurd crimes against the Empire and that they were all to receive the punishment of death. Normally, the warriors of the forests would have been able to take on the human fighters and stand a reasonable chance, but so many of them were separated from their families and their souls claimed by the burning flames that there were few left. Those who wished to use their magick couldn't do so without risk of self-injury; the life energy of the world around them was waning, depleting through the flames that burned a heavy wound into the planet.
One by one, the number of faeries dwindled into the single digits; only a handful of adults were left standing at the end of Fendel’s blade. They looked around at the bloodbath set upon them: all their children dead, their wives, husbands, and friends mutilated beyond recognition. Then the numbers waned even further, until it was just one man standing. Fendel looked at this man for a long hard minute before finally letting out a deep laugh. It tickled him to look upon this man, because Fendel had recognized him. He was a human. He was a great knight to the Empire, a strong man who believed in building relationships between the people of Eternus. Fendel would laugh at him, saying that he just wanted to lay with their women. As it were, this man had indeed wed himself to a female faerie. The man’s name was Felix Vanitas, a hero to the Empire before the Emperor’s madness, a husband to the mythical magick-folk, which was previously unheard of, and a father of two half-creatures.

Felix stepped forward, past his dead kinsmen’s bodies scattered around him, and ordered that the men stopped their killing. Fendel approached him, albeit cautiously, smiling furiously. He knew that this man was a warrior and the best of the land. There would be no mistakes; Felix was to die. Fendel declared that Felix chose to live his life with the Faeries and that the law of the Emperor considers him an abomination all the same. He stated that he is to be charged with breeding magickal offspring with another magick being, and that creating such a warped, twisted creature with human blood is punishable by death. But Felix would not go down without a fight. Before Fendel finished his accusation, Felix’ hand was firmly grasping the hilt of his sword. He pulled it from its sheath in a second and held if steadily in front of him. Fendel grinned at the opportunity; he would get to kill the best.

Both of the battle-ready warriors approached one another, circling around an imaginary point between them as they held stance. Fendel waited for his partner to strike first. Parrying and delivering was always an easier strike than attempting to overpower a foe. And to his luck, Felix charged forward. Fendel’s plan was exact. He pulled to the side, brought his blade up to clash with Felix’ sword’s underside and deflected his blade above their heads. Fendel finished his parry with a thrust; Felix’ stomach accepted the sword’s tip as he fumbled with his own weapon above his head. The confrontation had ended only seconds after it started. Fendel declared his victory with a cry of egotistical gloating, stating he was the best swordsman in the entire Empire.

Felix’ head turned away from his killer as the blade plunged deeper still, blood gushing from his gaping mouth and his torn chest. Just before the blackness of death all but completely filled is weakening vision, he saw a figure rustling in a nearby bush. Their eyes locked. It was a faerie child, and it was a child he knew all too well, for it was his own blood, his elder child. With his last ounce of strength, he mouthed his final words to his child. F-family. He urged the youth to hurry back to the only family it would have left, for if the man impaling him didn’t take his life, the flames would. He hoped to instill the sense of duty that the little one was in need of a caretaker and without the love of his family; the world would do dark and twisted things to his fragile mind. Faeries don't ever leave their homelands, not commonly anyways. But there was no home in Faeon any longer. The child turned its back to his dying father and the lunatic killer and ran, searching for its younger sibling to escape the burning wood. Those were the only two survivors of The Burning of Faeon.

The light of day was lost to the children for what seemed like ages, but when the skies finally cleared and the light returned, the mourning didn't cease."

RP History: Empire of Eternus
_
_
The Dark Tragedy of Eternus and The Great Purge of Magick

Map

"The vast Empire of Eternus encompasses nearly all the known lands of the world, reaching out to rule over every known town or city within its sights. Regardless of how small or limited in resources these civilizations may be, the Empire makes it a top priority that everyone within its realm is taken care of; taken care of and watched. The lands are filled with all kinds of beasts and magickal creatures, some intelligent enough to live in a functioning society, such as the elves and humans, while the rest are savage and take refuge within the wilds of nature. These creatures take any opportunity they can get to attack those who live in modern civilization, like the terrifying barghests lurking within the darkest of forests, or the goblins, who form their own clans and societies and hide within the tallest of mountains. Then there are those who simply choose not to live or are unable to live within the modernized societies of Eternus, retaining their lifestyle in the wilds with their own brethren, such as the faeries or merfolk.

The Empire has always been known as a fair and decent place to dwell. Poverty was low, employment and occupation was high and steady, taxes were reasonable, and society was peaceful. The only problem its denizens had struggled with was the monstrosities that infested the wilds, those very same savage beings that hungered for the flesh of the civilized. Traveling alone from city to city would prove dangerous to the inexperienced warrior, but even with this complication, the Empire has always offered its hand in protecting its travelers with escorts and entourages.

The figurehead of the Empire is, of course, the Emperor. The will of the Emperor is absolute; none dare challenge the finality of their ruler in any decision or thought that leaves his lips. The members of his council are his close advisers and the ones who elect him to the position. These councilmen are widely varied by race and from where they hail, so decision making in the Empire often reflects the concerns of all its people, rather than a biased selection. An Emperor or Empress can only be chosen by one of two methods: if there is a current Emperor still living, the Emperor must be killed in a battle set by his own terms; the alternative is that his councilmen decide to replace him with another of their choosing if his duty has run its course or if he passes on through natural death. Killing the Emperor is most often the more difficult of choices since he chooses the method of battle and sets the rules for the fight. The second choice may prove to be just as difficult, however, as a person must win the favor of all councilmen unanimously. This means that the candidate must pull the counsel’s favor away from the current Emperor, as he would have their support as their prior chosen to begin with.

The Empire is mostly compromised of humans, and originally so was its political office, but others of different ethnicity had eventually integrated themselves with the humans and rose through the ranks of their administration. Elves were commonly found in higher political positions, as were a handful of dwarves, gnomes, and when they chose to leave their sacred wild lands, faeries. There weren’t restrictions on who or what could rise in rank within the Empire, but there was a rule that governed who could actually become the Emperor of Eternus, a tiny detail that would eventually lead to the undoing of the current Emperor himself. The rule was that only those of a human descent could be Emperor. Though not many people really believed there was a reason for a new Emperor, since it was he who had maintained the land’s peace for so long, this restriction had planted a dark seed of hatred and jealousy within a group of non-humans that would lead to one of the darkest eras in all of Eternus' history. There was one in this group whose sole desire was to become Emperor, but he knew that he would never be accepted as Emperor unless he was a human.

This man shot through the rankings of the Empire very quickly, rising far above all of his peers and even befriending the Emperor himself. As time passed and their friendship grew, this man had begun to weave a spell of the most darkest of magicks to consume the Emperor. This spell would bind him in the mind and put his every action under the command of the caster of the spell. The hatred that fueled this man's ambition was strong, and he would have his revenge on the world for not giving him a chance, not allowing him to show that he could be just as good, if not better, than a human leader. Humans, the weak and magickl incaptable beings that claimed this world as their own, would pay for the unjust Empire they forced unto the world. No one suspected what was going on; no one batted an eye at the changes the Emperor was going through, not until it was too late. He announced that a bright, new future was being planned for his Empire, and that this new era would be the grounding point for a future worth living for, a future that would embrace magick as the tool of innovation. Shortly after his announcement, each human holding a position in his counsel was murdered in cold blood, accused of treason for attempting to overthrow the throne. The controversy exploded within the capital. Humans had feared for their lives as the magick folk around them begun to look upon them with judgmental and accusing eyes. The seed would further sprout. The plan was all too well played out, and any and all faults were carefully constructed to fall upon the humans of the city, rather than the manipulator behind the Emperor.

From there, every other human being that played a part in the running of the Empire was annihilated. Their families next, and it continued until the entire capital of Eternus was cleared of the human filth that writhed within it. Enslavement, torture, and genocidal camps were among the worst atrocities that had begun under the “new rule” of the Emperor.

This friend of the Emperor was drowning in the pleasure of his tyranny, a little too obviously for his own good. The one flaw that this plan had was that the Emperor himself was a human being. The other humans started to pick up on the strange relationship between the Emperor and his friend: how they were always secretly communication in hushed tones, how they would shut the world out for extended amounts of time, how they both would laugh at the terror he was creating for human life. The laugh, it was so similar between them; it was as if the laugh was the same, the exact same. The humans had become suspicious, beginning to believe that dark magicks were involved, that a malevolent force of evil had taken their Emperor from them. While they still had a small bit of hope left in them, they banded together. They fought back against the oppression and rescued many from the clutches of the unjust ruler. A guild was formed, the liberators of mankind, The Legion of Empyrean. They marched through the country and recruited any human willing to fight, until their numbers had overpowered the numbers of the Emperor’s now non-human army. They marched faster than word could travel, until they found themselves standing on the doorstep of the Emperor himself. In only one night, one swift raid, the Emperor’s manipulator was run through by more than just one blade. Everyone wanted their bit of revenge on the maniac that killed so many of their kind. After the last drop of blood fell from his body, the dark haze in the Emperor’s mind had diminished, and he returned to his normal self. Everyone thought that they would fall into peaceful times once again, now that the tyranny of the manipulator had ended. This was far from the truth.

After hearing the story of how he was controlled by a non-human, he instantly set in place a new regimen of ruling. First, he knighted the entirety of the new guild and called them heroes. He bound them by a blood pact to the duty of the eternal protection of his existence. They now are his personal guardsmen, protectors of his towns, and soldiers of his armies. You can’t go more than a hundred feet without seeing one in any city or on any main road. Second, a ban on Magick was put into place. Anyone performing even the slightest bit of sorcery would be killed without question. And finally, his last regulation, the worst of all, was that all non-humans were to be excommunicated from human society, and that those who were not of pure human blood still living in his lands would be extinguished. This was the start of what later would be called The Great Purge of Magick. Creatures of all races, genders, and ages were killed. Humans were the only ones safe in Eternus anymore, a complete flip compared to previous events. The Emperor stopped at nothing to snuff any inhuman creature from his realm: burning through his forests to set ablaze any elf or faerie body he could find, collapsing the entrances to the caves of the mountain dwarves and leaving them to starve trapped in their holes and homes, and even sending his best hunters and fishers to catch any merfolk too close to the surface of the ocean, to use them as food for his people and sport their heads as war trophies.

The world had become a different place. The Purge still goes on, but the races of the world are thinned and few. It’s seldom that you see anyone other than humans anymore, and those who aren't human must conceal themselves to avoid the risk of drawing any attention from the members of Legion, who are actively carrying out The Purge as the word and law of the Emperor himself. Magick has been declared an abomination that has no place in the Empire of Eternus or its future, magick or magick folk."

RP Character: Panthon Vanitas
_
_

-Name-

Panthon is analogous to the word pantheon, meaning “all the gods/deities”. His family name, Vanitas, is derived from the 17th century painting style that uses objects and symbols of death and change to remind viewers of death’s inevitability. The shorter variant of his name, Pan, simply means “shepherd”. His parents named him in hopes that one day he would bring a great change to the world as a leader.

-General Description-

Panthon is 12 years old and stands at a height of four-and-a-half feet. His body weight tops out at about 60 pounds. He’s thin, flexible, agile, and rather hardened due to his laborious and extensive exercise. His skin is often criticized as ashen and bloodless with the exception being the subtle pink tint painted across his cheeks, nose, and ears. Remnants of cuts and gashes scar the entirety of his body, each varying in size and shape.

-Bloodline-

Panthon is a half-breed creature who is a mixture of both humans and faerie-folk. His father was human and mother a faerie, but both are no longer living. The only family he has left is his older sibling, which he adores to no end.

***Faeries: In the Empire of Eternus, from where he hails, Faeries are horned like animals, winged like birds, and have large, glowing eyes. They are the average height compared to humans and contain a wide variety of magick powers that they develop at young ages. Their powers directly pull from the life force of the world around them, as well as the life force within them. Because of this, they live as one with nature and choose to live in the wildest parts of the world. Using their magick too frequently or in a large quantities drains their ability to see vividness in the perceptive world; their vision blackens and the colors fade from their sight. They become exhausted and require some time to meditate within nature to recuperate. The type of magick they have access to is entirely random and will only be known when the magick in their blood begins to flourish and manifest itself.

-Distinct Features-

Characteristics from both human and faerie folk are present, but when the blood of non-magick and magick species mix, abnormalities and unique features often occur.

His most noticeable feature is his large, blue eyes. Each iris exudes a glow of luminescent brilliance that reflects the presence of magick flowing through his body. The glow instills a certain feeling of peace to the onlooker, feigning an aura of delusional innocence.

His ears are long and pointed, while his nose is petite and flicked upwards into a slant. While his ears are larger when compared to a human, both features are still as small and delicate just like any other child.

His hair is platinum and wild. The sides of his head are shaved down, but the hair that sprouts from the top of his skull is thick, wavy, and frantically messy.

He has two pairs of premature horns sprouting from his head, still yearning to grow to their fullest extent: the first pair mimics that of a ram, sprouting from his temples and curling around his ears, and the second pair are thin and straight, taking root at his forehead and reaching back along his skull like a gazelle.

One of his most prominent deformations resulting from his half-blood mix is his tail. It is similar to the body snake, scaled and black, and the tip forms a non-lethal hook, not unlike the classic appearance of a devil or demon. The tail is prehensile and under his full control when needs be, but is often found wrapped around one of his legs or gently swaying behind him.

As with his tail, his appendages also share this black scaled coating that isn't found on humans or faeries. From the toes to the ankles and the fingertips to the wrists runs the black, scaly skin of a serpent before it blends back to his smooth, pale, human-like complexion.

His hands, toes, and teeth are all pointed and deadly sharp. He keeps his toes sharp for climbing, his hands for clawing, and his teeth for tearing.

One feature he lacks, as opposed to his faerie cousins, is a pair of feathered wings. Generally speaking, a faeries’ wings sprout from his back at a young age, the age that Panthon is right now. He just hasn't reached that point yet. It's known to be a painful experience, as the wings literally rip out from behind the flesh of the back and fill out almost instantly. It is said that the faerie-folk suffer through this evolution as the initiation into adulthood. It takes an extended amount of time for the wounds to heal, but the pain teaches that all great things come with a price, something that most of the other inhabitants of the world are ignorant to.

His voice is generally soft with a slight rasp and is somewhat effeminate.

-Clothing-

The majority of Eternus is warm, and both of the siblings lived most of their lives within the outer linings of the deep forests that covered the lands. Along with the land’s deserts, the forests are some of the hottest places in Eternus. Because of this, Pan chooses to wear only what was necessary for warmth or modesty.

His baseline clothing is a pair of form-fitting black shorts that barely reach down his thighs. Hanging of his waistline is a skirt of sorts consisting of two flaps. The flaps reach slightly past the shorts and act as a second layer for wind resistance.

Hanging off his waistline is a black skirt of sorts that consists of two flaps that cover the front and back of his shorts. The flaps hang no lower than the legs of the shorts and serve as an extra layer for wind resistance.

He has a small satchel tied to his waistband and a small dagger strapped to his leg mostly used as a tool or emergency weapon.

His torso is fitted with a black, square-cut tank top that forms to his body just as the shorts do.

His feet and shins are wrapped in a black cloth tape that helps protect him from receiving abrasions on the arches of his soles when he runs. The wrapping only covers the middle body of his foot, leaving his toes and heels accessible to the ground.

More so to manipulate his image into something to be feared rather than serve any real sense of practicality, he will often mark much of his open skin with dark paint, mud, and colored berry juices, just as native warriors do to show himself as a battle-worn wildling.

-Personality Traits-

Panthon tends to be reserved when he’s around other people because he’s not used to being around others besides his older sibling. Even his kin may find it difficult to get him to speak of anything that may be bothering him.

He tends to avoid showing his emotions if he can, although he has a rather poor poker face, especially when he’s disturbed or excited.

His naive nature and hopeful demeanor can be easily taken advantage through candied words are a sweet delight to his ears. Although he is a smart child, false promises can easily lure him into a well baited trap as long as the promises are attractive to his desires.

At times, Pan can be very impish. He likes to joke, play, and get into trouble just like any other kid. When in the right mood, he can find himself play pranks on his sibling. Sometimes he pushes just a little too far, and his sibling knows all too well he sometimes doesn’t know when to stop.

When Panthon catches wind that his sibling is upset, he gives the biggest, warmest hugs and comfort that he can. Even if he’s the one his sibling is fighting with, he is overwhelmed guilt knowing that arguments shouldn’t come between them: They only have each other.

He values his relationship with his remaining sibling. There isn't a thing in the world he wouldn't give up for his older sibling. While at times he may sound cold or sour, his older sibling knows him to be a sweetheart who just has his periodic pouty periods like any fussy child. When he’s happy, however, there isn't another being in existence whose face lights up as brightly as his does.

-Talents-

His talents are mainly born from his speed, flexibility, and cunning.

Throughout his life, Panthon was forced to learn numerous “survival skills” in order to survive the harsh world he was born into. He’s learned how to pickpocket coin purses and small items from pockets, open locks with makeshift tools, track and hunt small animals with homemade throwing spears and knives, use stealth to move through shadowed areas without making a sound, and bluff his way through social interactions.

He has an uncanny ability for precise movements and acrobatic engagements. He can travel across rooftops at high speeds, keep his balance along small or narrow passages or ledges, and jump across long distances with adequate recovery to reduce damaging himself. He loves climbing up into the trees and pouncing from branch to branch. His reflexes are sharp when he needs to move, moving with the fluidity of a wild cat; he gains much enjoyment from moving in such a way.

He has a minor talent in crafting. He has a pan flute that he made himself and often practices.

-Favored Weapons-

His weapons are his claws, feet, teeth, horns, and tail, and are used in any way he can to fight. He uses his stealth tactics, speed, flexibility, and acrobatics to quickly take out his opponents, often before they know he was there. He also has two large daggers to use when he’s in a pinch.

-Usable Magicks-

Although the magic in his blood has yet to activate, soon it will begin to manifest and reveal to him that he has the ability of transfiguration. With strict, practiced use, he will be able to lift and move small objects from a distance, create invisible forces to push, pull, or stop things near him, and alter his own physical presence as an blinking or ethereal image. Transfiguration is a type of magick that after decades of mastery results in the use of forces that can bend and change the physical reality of objects or people, such as changing the molecular composition of objects or the physical appearance of a person, altering the weather, or even the manipulation the very progression of time around an object. But these abilities take a severe toll on the life energies of one's body. Simply moving a small object around for more than a few moments can cause novices to black out.

-Likes-

He is at home in nature. The trees, flowers, and wildlife all bring him joy.

Nothing makes him happier than being with his older sibling. He loves to poke fun with his relative, from jokes to teasing to pranks. He's very buddy buddy with the family member at the usual, but also has a soft heart that craves the love that only his sibling can give him. It hurts him intensely to argue with his brother, even though most of the arguments are caused by the fault of his own doing.

Meditating and practicing his acrobatic skills through dance and strategic movement brings him peace of mind. Although he enjoys it, prancing and dancing around in front of others, such as his sibling, sometimes makes him feel uncomfortable knowing that eyes are following him. The pressure of having viewers often cause him to fumble his rhythm, which doesn't help with feelings of insecurity.

He enjoys playing his pan flute for his sibling.

While it began more out of necessity than pleasure, he does enjoy skulking in the shadows of villages, picking out his prey to burglarize and make home with his gain and gloat. He enjoys the tingling flow of adrenaline that rushes through his body in a tense situation, and the strong pumping of his heart as it beats against his chest, and when the hairs on the back of his neck stand up on end while his skin prickles with goosebumps.

-Dislikes-

He refuses to wear anything on his feet other than the athletic tape wrapped around his arches. Shoes are out of the question, regardless of how cold or dangerous the environment may be. He feels that wearing anything on his feet will just impede on his silent movements.

He hates prejudice, something that he’s had to deal with his entire life. But in contradiction to this, he often cites that he hates humans for the torture they have put him through.

He has no favor of deities or other godly beings who watch over the world. They've never helped him in any of his darkest moments, so he shows no obligation of worship to anything.

He hates raised voices directed towards him. Arguments don’t last long because they usually end with him giving the cold shoulder.

He refuses to kill anyone unless it’s absolutely necessary. Sometimes, he gets so caught up in making the decision to end another’s life that he in turn puts himself in danger.

He’s peeved when called a child.

-Fears-

When encountering one of his fears, he tends to break down hard and becomes next to unmanageable.

After suffering nights of beatings and enduring the heavy drainage of his own blood through the lacerations of a small blade, all while dangling by the chained cuffs around his wrists that lifted his feet from the floor, he is now and forever terrified of being imprisoned or bound, even playfully.

He stands clear of any deep waters. Once during a harsh storm, he was swallowed up in a rushing river due to an egotistical mistake of thinking his bare feet could withstand the friction-less surface of a wet, moss covered stepping stone. He learned a hard lesson that day: Rapid waters are strong and will do everything in their power to fill up your lungs. This was another situation he was lucky his big sibling was nearby.

The thought of medical procedures is nauseating to him and the sight of such tools is paralyzing. It takes a great effort for him to stay still if ever the need of medical attention needs to be applied to him, such as sewing up deep cuts, the mending of broken bones, or the application of herbs that sting fresh wounds while they clean and remove bacteria.

-General History-

Panthon's parents were killed while he was still at a very young age by a guild known as Legion of the Empyrean, (Legion), a band of human warriors that hunt non-human creatures to cleanse the world of the existence of magick. They possess a strong sense of self-righteousness, egotistical stigma, and self-ordained justice. Pan and his sibling have been running from their interrogation for years. Legion has strongly integrated their influence in the ruling Empire, so their ranks are found everywhere. Even the common guard found in towns scattered through the Empire are employed by Legion, so they are virtually everywhere and always looking for magick folk.

-Most Significant Memory-

While Panthon was in a town raid to steal some food for him and his sibling, am unfortunate small child found himself in a wrong place - wrong time scenario. The child ended up being accused of the theft that had transgressed, and was sentenced to lose a hand for the crime, and when Panthon found out, he tried to step in. The shopkeeper argued that both of the kids would be punish, and in the end, Panthon ended the salesman’s life. As he ripped the life from the shopkeepers throat, he became enthralled with tearing the man apart. He could no longer control his hatred for humans, and the animosity that overtook him. He plunged into a fit of rage and dug his nails deep into the flesh of the human, unable to regain consciousness and stop himself from tearing away at the mangled body. The small boy who Panthon was trying to protect had been watching from nearby. He walked up to Pan during his insanity, pleading for him to stop, that the man's spirit had long left the body. In his fit, Pan spun around and slashed the life from the boy’s throat, blood spraying out onto Panthon's already sullied face. It was then he snapped out of the madness consuming him. He eternally regrets that day, and has an unmanageable difficulty with killing anyone, for fear of losing control of his self and turning wild.
