I grimaced and held him close to me. "I....uh....won't let them touch you.......I...uh..promise." I said, trying my best to be sentimental. I cleaned him and helped him into my clothes. By that time, he'd stopped crying and was silent. I took his hand and led him back to my bed lying him down and stroking his face, trying to make him feel at ease with me. It would be important if I was going to get him to love me and well.....he looked sleepy.
"I forgot to ask you kid." I brushed his bangs out of his face. "Whats your name?"
He gave me a half lidded stare and yawned like a kitten. "It's Elliot." He curled up his hand into a fist, grasping my satin black shirt. He slowly fell asleep on me and I layed him down. He refused to let go of my shirt so I sighed, layed down next to him, and fell asleep along with him.
***********Lucifer***********
When I woke up I opened my eyes to see Elliot curled up at my chest, his small frame pushed against mine. He was so small and light that I could barely feel him against me. He was like a ghost. I carefully got up and put a pillow in my place so he wouldn't wake to find his cusion gone.
I made him breakfast, left it on the counter, took a quick shower, and walked out after leaving him a note.
***********Elliot***********
I wasn't asleep but I wasn't awake either. I could feel the warmth of the figure next to me leave and then something soft and cooler press against me in it's place. I didn't want that warmth to go but I was too weak to get up. After being plucked off the street by some stranger, to be pitied by him, and then I break down in front of him, I'm pretty sure anyone else would be exausted too.
When I heard the door close, signalling his leave and smelt a waft of food from the large and lustrous apartment kitchen, I finally cracked open my eyes and got up. I left the bed and went into the kitchen. I glared at the food as if it were demon waste but I could hear a roaring from my stomach that I couldn't deny. So I gave in and ate the food. Surprisingly, the food tasted pretty good, better than any of the stuff people threw out. Though I suppose, that's why they threw it out.
I saw a small slip of paper wedged under my plate and I picked it up. I unfolded it and read the beautiful curved handwritting gracing the paper.
"Dear Elliot,
I've left for a while to do some errands I left you food in the pantry with directions on how to make it if you get hungry again. You are free to use any entertainment you want in my apartment, TV, computer, radio, etc. If you need anything there is a phone next to my bed with a slip of paper that has my cell phone number on it.
You can leave anytime you want I'm not going to come looking for you, but I'm pretty sure you would not be that thrilled to be out on the streets again so I'm not expecting that you'll leave. Don't break anything and if anyone knocks on the door or calls, don't answer it and pretend you're not there.
Take Care,
Lucifel
I sighed and set the note on the counter, then put the dishes in the sink. I looked around the apartment. "It's not a very homey place really. I'd call it a morbid. Is he mourning the death of someone? Everything's so black."
I laid on his comfy, silky, bed and turned on the radio. I listened to the plucking of a harp and the racing of a bow and lay there thinking of the man that brought me here. "He looked so dark and evil it's hard to believe he'd take care of a scrawny little eye child like me." I stared at the ceiling. "He's so pretty. He's got cat-like yellow eyes and raven black hair." I shook my head. "Snap out of it Elli' he probably thinks you're an annoying little pest." I sighed and curled up. "But he seemed so warm despite how he looks. He was trying to be somewhat sweet to me when he saw my.....scars." I sighed. "I'll just nap 'till he gets back."
