So I've finally met that point to where I'm unsatisfied with where I'm at in college. The Digital Media program here at ETSU isn't really what they tell you it's like. I came here to learn how to design characters and maybe learn how to paint digitally...when all the photoshop class does is take pretty photographs and make composites...blah. The professor promises, "oh we'll get into digital painting..." Psh. Haven't touched it. I decided I don't want to make 3D models and learn how to animate them. I really don't have the patience for it.

So, with the disappointment of this flawed department at the college, I'm switching majors into Art and see what it promises me. I want to be an illustrator; make comic covers, do concept art, and maybe illustrate for children books. It seems more up my alley. The thing is...I don't know if ETSU really focuses on the digital painting/character creation/concept art and all that jazz. I'm actually looking into changing colleges altogether and saving up my money to go to Savannah College of Art and Design. I've been wanting to go there since High School, but it's hella expensive. :[ I have a friend, who's nicknamed "Jaster," that has just graduated from there and he tells me the college is amazing. So, this weekend, SCAD is having an information presentation...thing, basically about scholarships and admissions, in North Carolina. I'm registered and just about ready to go only...I've signed up for portfolio counseling...when...I...don't have as many illustrations as I'd like. My best stuff comes from my classes and sadly...the classes I've taken haven't really taken me anywhere as far as portfolio work as an illustrator/concept artist. So I'll be sitting in my bedroom (my art studio in the house hasn't been finished yet, although if I end up going out of state there's no reason for it) hammering out some last minute ideas onto paper and hopefully finishing them.

There's about three things I've got so far. A major project from my Drawing Fundamentals class, a concept drawing I did of a creature, and these cartoon characters I drew last night to practice a style. sweatdrop It's getting there!
