Prologue – The Sole Survivor
Terrible things have been done in the past, but never did Hatori think something like this would happen. A bomb threat was sent through the whole school. Everybody had to evacuate, or else they would surely get caught in the blast. Everybody thought it was a practical joke being pulled, including Hatori. So nobody left their classrooms. Then, when the explosion was heard, the whole school went into a panic. Everybody tried to flee in fear, but it was no use. Everybody who doubted the alarm regretted it. As quickly as it started, so quickly did it end. Hatori managed to get to the front door. However, he was still caught within the blast. And this is all he remembered....
Hatori wakes up in the hospital several weeks later. He was in very bad shape, but still very much alive.
-“Ugh... what happened?” mumbled Hatori as he cleared his eyes of his bangs.
-“Oh! You are finally awake!” exclaimed the nurse. “Everybody was worried about you!” -“Everybody... What about those in the school! Are they alright?”
The nurse hung her head in shame.
-“Unfortunately, you are the sole survivor of this terrible ordeal... my deepest apologies...”
Hatori did not believe what he was hearing. All his friends, his teachers, his school life, even his girlfriend, were all dead.
-“No... You’re lying!” shouted Hatori. That shout really hurt him, he collapses in his bed. As he rests his head on his pillow, he thought to himself: “This is only a terrible dream. This will all end when I wake up, and then I will have lunch with my friends! Yeah! It’ll be great! I’ll meet up with his beloved Shina and his best friend Mira, and they will laugh about all of this.”
-“Hatori, you have a visitor,” said the nurse.
Hatori was still drowsy, he hoped it was one of his friends. How dearly he hoped so. Instead, in comes his mother.
-“Hatori! I am so glad you are alive!” sobbed Hatori’s mother. “I heard about it on the news, they said nobody survived except for you! How did you make it?”
Hatori then started to cry. It was true... he was never going to see them again. He was never going to feel the precious lips of his beloved ever again. He will have a great laugh with his best friend no more. That was it, never again...
-“Oh Hatori... its ok... Mom is here,” empathized his mother.
Upon that, Hatori collapsed again on his bed.
Hatori was released from the hospital three months later. His mother insisted he continue his education, hence why she decided to send him to the nearest school.
-“Now Hatori, are you sure you’ll be alright?” asked his mother.
-“I’ll be ok mom,” answered Hatori.
He then got out of the car, and began walking towards his new school, and his new life...
