It's Halloween today!
...In English, that translates to free candy.
biggrin
What I don't understand is why people stop trick-or-treating once they reach high school. Whether you're 5 or 15, free candy is free candy! Which, in and of itself, is unbelievably awesome. And, if you get enough, you'll be able to ration it all the way through Easter. rofl
This year, I made my own costume. Picture this: A leather biker jacket, with a red shirt (decorated with an American flag) underneath. I've dyed my hair red, and put on white face paint in a slight resemblance to the Joker from The Dark Knight, only with a few scars here and there.
The total cost for the costume? $13.45, plus tax.
The effect?
Well, I practiced in front of a mirror for a bit. Wearing the costume is only half the fun - taking on the role of the character is the other, and it makes the getup convincing. My 'character' basically looks like a serial killer of some sort, so I gave him a voice (I'm a part-time voice actor) and an attitude.
When I went to a costume contest at a Halloween party for people my age, I was surrounded by classmates dressed like fairies, pirates, zombies, and Indians. Oh yeah, and a few Sarah Palins.
Anyway, the judge walked by, asking each of us what we were and for comments. When it came to my turn, the judge held the microphone in front of my face and asked, "So, what are you supposed to be?"
I grabbed the microphone from her outstretched hand, and spoke into it. "Uh... I'm not really sure. I just came up with this." I said, in a calm tone.
"So, any comments?" She asked, shoving the microphone in my face again.
Of course, time for my character's persona. I smirked evilly (no joke, it looked crazy - a lot of people can attest to that) and cackled, in an almost exact imitation of Joker from the Dark Knight. Then I yelled, "HERE'S JOHNNY!" (That's a famous quote from The Shining.)
Well... I did a very convincing job. Too convincing, apparently, because most people avoided me after that.
lol xD
