For those of you who have obviously never talked to me for more than 5 minutes or read this journal, it may come as a shock to you that I'm attending University for a degree in Music Education. I'm a saxophonist and while I may not be a good one, I'm still marginal and last night I got to show off my mediocrity.

Last night was our very first Saxophone Ensembles concert at the University. My BORQ quartet (Ask if you REALLY want to know what it means) and the top quartet (The Fangorious Four). My quartet did some pretty standard "Happy" literature for the saxophone that came off decently enough. We naturally had some spots where we stumbled along the way, but it wasn't too bad as a whole. My damn reed gave out on me like twice in passages where I was supposed to be soloistic and beautiful sounding. Luckily it recovered just after I started going into violent shakes of nervousness which lasted throughout the remainder of the piece. stressed

The Fangorious Four did an amazing job as usual and all of their pieces came off really well. I'm still not a tremendous fan of the third movement of this piece they commissioned, but it didn't take away from the rest of what they were doing. The did an encore of a transcription of a Bach organ fugue and didn't Jazz it up like they did when we heard them play it last week. I really wanted them to slaughter Bach too... sad

As a side note, go check out Monica's (TinHawk) journal to see the pair of shoes I bought her last night. I'm not supposed to buy her anything at all EVER, but she said she'll make an exception for shoes since they're her weakness. xp
