It was cold and early Spring. It had just finished raining and was now too dark to go outside. We were finished our dinner of porkchops and gravy with mashed potatoes and we were bored. The storm had nocked out the power and most probably the satellite out of position.
Sitting in front of the TV that was propped up on the wall above the large glass window that took up the whole wall space. The windows went around the whole room that was at the front of the cottage facing a large drop down to the water. The trees that went down the slowly moving downwards steps were small and most had branches chewn off by beavers and Fishers that habited the water shore.
Me and my brother sighed in uniscin as we slooched on the three person couch. We were on either end I was on the right if you faced us and closer to the kitchen that was out of viewing range if you looked in through the windows. Our parents heard us as they lifted their plates up and placed them under the tap and made sure that the candles didn't go out. "C'mon. You shouldn't even watch TV when we're up here." Our mom said to us with a smile on. Dad agreed with her and we both grumbled.
"Isn't fair." I mumbled sitting back up and cracking my back. My brother mumbled out an agreement to my words and continued with it, "Inuyasha's going to be on in like half an hour." He said lifting his watch up to his face and pushing the indigo button. "We're going to miss it." He said solemnly.
I nodded and added to make it worse for our parents, "And it's a new episode too. Dad. "I looked up over the back of the couch. He stopped putting the dishes away and looked up at me. "Yes?" I gave him a puppy eyed pout, "Can you go out and fix the satellite?" I turned and propped myself up on the couch and started to beg. "Please?!" My brother kind of joined me but just added certain things trying to get him to give in.
Mom sighed and came to his rescue with a good counter point that we had forgotten, "Without power, the satellite can't work so if we move it we might just mess it up." I moaned and My brother did too and slid back into my chair. "Well something interesting better happen. I don't want to go to sleep this early."
Our parents smiled to each other, "I think it would do you good if you got to sleep before midnight for once." Mom replied with it, "I would like to see you up before noon for once. You can watch the morning chorus with us." Which meant she wanted us to watch birds.
I grumbled. "We see birds every day! They're boring!"
