Healthy practices for regulating emotions are so hard. One of the things I will focus on if I have a child is teaching them to do that early. Talking to them and making sure they understand that early I do not want them to be like me and stuff things down until they burst and not even know why they burst. I do not want them to have a meltdown like I did. Hopefully I do a good job.
