A thousand worlds away
A child is crying for me.
Night is entwined with day,
The child holds my eternal key.
The child can see I am crying,
But does not understand why I am trying
To grasp the key I have lost.
The child has it and can only give at a cost.
I run down and up flights of stairs,
Can the child hear my frantic prayers?
Nothing is impossible if I have that key,
The one designed to someday be given to me.
But I don't know when or where I will receive!
So I run up and down trying to retrieve
The one thing I cannot grasp,
The one thing that child constantly will clasp.

But "maybe" is just a dream.
No matter how real it may seem,
It is something that probably won't be.
Not for the child, not for me.
