It’s the second of November. I still don’t have internet, phone and TV. I had to go to the store today and that in itself was an interesting experience. The streets weren’t crowded with cars and those at were driving around were doing it carefully because some of the traffic lights are still out. Most stores are close too. My dad and I went to the pharmacy to make a money order for a water bill. We guessed that the store was opened because they had a generator going on. When we got to it, they had a sign on the front door saying that it was only open for customers picking up medicine. I guess the water company will have to wait a bit.
As for Pathmark it was pretty busy. It’s not surprising to see that there were a couple of empty shelves around the store. Funny enough, the frozen food sections were completely empty. Every frozen pizza, instant Chinese meals, microwave meals, basically anything that just needs to be heated was all gone. There were only a few stuff left which is what I got. The potatoes chip and snack sections were also pretty empty. Many of the people shopping at the store were only focus on getting items that didn’t require much work and could last them a long while.
Now, a big issue is gas. I’ve been seeing neighbors getting canisters and going to gas stations. I’m pretty sure none of them are getting gas for generators. We would know if they had them because those are loud. We’ve been hearing on the radio that gas is becoming scares. My parents are trying to be careful with using the car since it’s only half full. We’ve only used it once this week and that’s to get groceries. We haven’t bother trying to get gas because we’re not going to spend hours on line to get it, only that there’s nothing left. Or what we do get is not enough since gas stations that are open are limiting the amount people can get so that there’s enough for everyone. It’s understandable but things are getting crazy when it comes to gas.
