In Falling Skies, every single thing that I’ve predicted about it has come true. So I’m hoping that this next prediction of mine will turn out to be wrong, or least half wrong because I love it when shows throw me in for a loop. This post contains spoilers from the season finale of the show.
So far, in the season finale "A More Perfect Union" they manage to destroy a large device and it's unclear what its purpose was for. In the end of the episode everything clicked into place, at least in my mind it did. As soon as that device was destroyed, hundreds of alien spacecraft descend from the sky. I'm guessing that device was some sort of force field or space weapon that kept those aliens from getting too close to Earth. Wait, if I remember correctly the weapon wasn't actually finished so it does sound like the Overlords were trying to get it done before the new aliens could reach the planet then.
But the thing is, I don't think they are a new alien race. I believe that they are the skitters, well what the skitters use to be before they were harness. The alien we see, he revealed his face and he looked very similar to a skitter. Though he has more facial features and has a humanoid body. I wouldn't be surprise if they become allies, after all they have the same enemy. It wouldn't make sense for the show to throw in another enemy for the humans. The humans wouldn't stand a chance at all if that happens.
Actually, I'm pretty darn sure they aren't another enemy. The key thing here is that it makes sense to give the humans an ally because that would give them an equal ground to fight the Overlords, their harness minions and whatever weapon they come up with. The rebel skitters aren't a strong allies because it's difficult to trust those that look identical to the bad ones. Besides, the rebel skitters knew that they couldn't win because they are outnumber and under powered.
They needed the humans help because they have the power and capability to make an impact against the Overlords. Plus, it doesn't help that the harness kids and the rebel skitters can be detected by the Overlords, so they are in a disadvantage and its another reason why they came to the humans. With the new aliens as allies they'll have more of a chance of actually putting fear into the Overlords. To possibly win back their planet, future and just maybe free their people.
As for Hal, we saw him wake up and shuffle over to a mirror, where he watched a parasite crawl out of his eye socket and into his ear. After the parasite finds its mark somewhere inside Hal’s brain, he smiles evilly into the mirror. The difference between Tom's eye parasite and Hal's parasite is that they were/are being used for different purposes.
The skitter, Red Eyes he's the one that planted the parasite on Tom to keep track of him and the 2nd Mass. Karen while forcing a kiss on Hal, she pass her own insect into him so that she can do the same and do more then just keep track of where the 2nd Mass goes. From the way Hal reacted after it entered his ear, I'll say she did it to also have him under her control (or do a sleeper agent kind of thing).
Next season will be interesting but I do hope it throws me some curve ball because I'm finding it a bit too predictable if my theories turn out to be true.
