Today is the day that Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut is available as a free (2GB!) download for anyone who wants a little more closure to their favorite series.
The reason they came out with this Extended Cut DLC is because fans of the series were so disappointed with the game’s lackluster and confusing ending, that they demanded more from the creators, Bioware. Bioware listened, and agreed to go back and create an “extended cut” of the finale to help make it easier for fans to understand the endings and clarify parts of it that didn’t make sense.
I got a chance to see all the endings and in short, it’s better. But ultimately it’s very obvious that it should have been included in the game in the first place. Though I am pleased that they finally clear it up so that there’s closure, especially with the scenes of what happens after Shepard made his/her decision. To what happen to his/her crew, to each of the planets and whatnot.
